Choco used to popcorning when i cleaning their cage and feeding him food. After i changed a new big cage to Jasper, he used to popcorn now days. I think he is super happy wt his new cage because of more and more space for him to run ard and jumped here jumped there, but he seems dont really know to eat the Hay frm the Hay Rack(attached wt the new cage) because i old cage(fixed on the floor of the cage) is actually tray but in the new cage is rack(hanging). I have fill up the new hay rack with full of Timothy and Alfalfa hay on the 1st day when i move him to new cage but he didnt finished the hay(actually seems he didnt eat even half) and try to move some of the Hay to the tray that i used to give him last time yesterday night, he was actually almost finish it this morning when i checked him. brows.gif

Seems i need sometimes to trained him to get the Hay from the rack instead of the tray. blush.gif

My GP seldom eat hay liao now a days.. rclxub.gif
But i'm feeding him the timothy hay pellet. Is it ok ar?  sweat.gif

Jingle and Jasper love Hay more than pallet tongue.gif
Their favour are 1st- Vegs. 2nd-Hay biggrin.gif
Timothy hay pallet is ok for them but they still need to take Hay because it will help to trim their theeth.
Try to introduce Hay to them and need to be more patient.

Added on May 6, 2009, 12:49 amWhen coming back from work today, i saw Jasper has finish the hay which i put into the food tray but the hay rack is still full sweat.gif
Haizzzz....this Jasper ahhhh.....really dunno how to take the Hay frm the Hay rack lol rclxub.gif

Hi Carol, i got put hay inside the cage.. but my blackie will only pee poo at it.. So notti fella.. The timothy hay pellet is from oxbow.. He will only eat the pellet and fresh vege.. Very seldom see him eat the hay provided.. Or should i buy those hay cake for him?
*
biggrin.gif My Jasper sometimes will also pee and poo on his hay. As long as you have provide him hay, i think is ok lah....maybe sometimes u can provide less pallet and fresh veges,so that he will take the hay when he feel hungry. I used to do that last time when both Jingle and Jasper dont really eat Timothy hay but only take Alfalfa hay. I reduce the Alfalfa hay and pallets and stop giving fresh veges for 1 day and when they feel hungry, they will go and take the Timothy hay because that their only choice.

I trained them to take more Timothy hay is because i know too much of Alfalfa hay will cause bleeder stone(for Adult gp).

Maybe for breakfast time you just feed him hay, and later afternoon or evening after he finish it only you feed the vege n pellets. If they are hungry, sure eat one..haha
*
yeah, i only feed them veges and fruits for their dinner only. Pallets and hay are 24/7 fulfill in their food tray.

Hurray..my Sheltie GP safely delivered 2 healthy babies just now at 10pm.  She is a first-timer, still not get use to the experience of being a mom.  Initially she doesn't want to get close to her babies, and her babies were also in confuse stage being left alone at the corner.  I tried many time to introduce the baby to the mom's milk, finally the mom can accept the babies.

I might involve (because the management haven't confirm the funding for the trip) in the meeting and workshop at Beijing on 18th May - 23rd May soon(business trip). I know i should feel happy as this is an opportunity in my career as i'm representing Malaysia to attend the workshop but i dont feel to leave my gps (Jingle,Jasper and Choco).

Actually my hubby can take care them as he know how and what to feed them but he will be going to Thailand also on 20th May - 22 May for his business matters also. I have another candidate (my sister) to take care them within the few days but i'm really worries leh, i'm not really sure whether she can handle or not. I just hope that she can help to feed them water, pallets, hay and veges, not really on cleaning the pee and poo because i know she will make it worse. I think what can i do is pack all the needed food in 12 small begs for each variance of food(breakfast and dinner).

Do you guys have any advice on this?

Well..I understand your worries, as your Jasper is quite a problematic one.. why don't you boarding them at Dr. Jenny's clinic? Would this give you peace of mind?

Hrm..... hmm.gif yeah,Jasper is the most problematic one.... unsure.gif Choco is abt 5 weeks old and i'm planning to separate him frm the mother to avoid interbreed. When i put him to Jasper big cage today and observe them, Jasper was trying to hump him(Choco).... doh.gif rclxub.gif Haizzzz.....seems Jasper is too agressive in this and i need to get something(maybe coropast) to divide the cage or else something bad might be happen.... yawn.gif

Just wonder whether will male gp hump male gp? or maybe i identify the wrong gender on Choco? sweat.gif

Hrm....it is a good idea what maybe i should board them at Dr.Jenny there but i'm a bit worried that 1st thing is there are many dogs and cats boarded at there and just worried that my gps will feel stress due to the dog's bark and 2nd thing is the new environment at there also might cause them stress.

Btw, Juztiny, all your new born gps are so cute,healthy.... wub.gif

Kaoru, may kumo-chan RIP and congratulation to you on the new born pups biggrin.gif

So happy to know that there are so many new born healthy pups ard LYN biggrin.gif

I had this problem as well ....
I separated Milky and Cotton from their Mommy to prevent interbreeding and put them together with an older maLe GP.
The Older one started acting aggressively ... chasing the little ones around and peeing all over and climbing all over them....
It went on all night and I was so stressed out & worried... I didnt know what to do....

Anyhow I left them overnight and by the next day... they started to settle down and get along very well...
It was really messy at first and I was really upset but now they R living happily together..
it just takes a while for them to get to know each other and get used to each other...
Just have to be patient...

p/s: it is normal for male GPs to hump other male GPs....
*
hrm....i was thinking to put Choco and Jasper together for overnight too....but i just worried that Choco might be too stress because Jasper keep on chasing him to hump and disturb him. And i also worried that Jasper might accidently step on Choco and cause any internal injuries(just like Snowy's case). But when i went to pet shack today Jack told me should be ok since Choco is already 5 mths old.....

I really dunno what should i do now (whether separate them wt coropast or no need separate them or still let Choco stay with Jingle).....anyone have any command on this?

If Choco is already 5 months old, it is ok to mix with his dad.  In fact, 4 months old is time to mix with the other males.  Don't wait too long, as Choco become older, he may not respect the elder anymore and will try to challenge with Jasper to be the leader, then they would fight even worst.  Now at least, Choco will stress for one day being chased by the dad.  After a day or 2, they will settle down peasefully.
*
Oppsss....sorry Choco was 5 weeks old not 5 mths old...apologies for my mistake sweat.gif .....should i put him wt his father in same cage now? Just worried that Jasper might injured him....or maybe i should put a coropast to divided the cage so that at least can avoid some accident happen?

I went to Denso last week at IOI mall and found this Cube alike thingy, problem is, it does not have any connector. Only the wire mesh.
There were two type available. The long chrome type which I am not sure is a good idea for GP cage and the square one that should do the job well enough.

You guyz know where I can get the connector?

I have putting Choco wt Jasper yesterday night after work when i feed them vegs...at first Jasper was eating his vegs....but when he saw Choco....he put down his vegs and starting chasing Choco to hump rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif i was monitoring them at that time and Jasper even dirty Choco fur.... doh.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif but i can see that Choco is very happy and he keep on pop corning and running while Jasper chase him..... shocking.gif and when both of tired, they just enjoy their Hay and then aft they re-charge....both of them start chasing again and sometimes Choco will kacau balik Jasper rclxub.gif

I was worries for the whole night and the first thing i do in the morning when i wake up is not clean up myself but is checking both Jasper and Choco....both of them are ok and resting at each of their corner.....

I hope that Choco will be more happy staying wt Jasper because Jingle is as active as Jasper and seldom see her playing and running ard wt her kids but Jasper was hyper active. smile.gif

Even Choco was abt 1 mths plus now and he is staying harmony with his father Jasper, but i still did take him out for floor time, lucky he is still small size and the cage is enough for him to roam ard. He is very active and he will run away and hide someway. I had experienced once and getting so difficult to take him out frm the big bookshelf...and i also scared when i move the bookshelf anything drop from there and injurt him.

He used to stay with Jasper only until now days but he haven't meet Jingle before after i have separate him from his mother Jingle. Sometime i really feels to let 3 of them meet each other but i really scared after the present of Jingle, Jasper and Choco will not stay along anymore (Just like what happen as per Jacklene)....

No lah..only a few will have such problem....some genital part is very clear even on day 1 when they are born.  So far so good the sexes I identify are 100% accurate.  If you are not sure about its sex then don't let it go at the age of 3 weeks old yet, wait till it is 5 weeks old.
*
yeah....Choco is very obvious and clear when i check on him on 2nd day but Snowy was not really and i can't really confirmed Snowy's gender even when she is already 3 weeks old (maybe i'm not that expert to identify).

Hi Jack, i'm so sorry to heard abt that but just feel a bit weird. I still remember when i bought Jasper, i take him to see Dr.J for general checkup. I did told Dr.J abt my concern also since i was not planning to breed them and Dr.J told me that it is no recommanded to neutered until they was abt at least 6 mths old, and if i dont really want to breed them, i need to separate them until Jasper neutered (means 6 mths later), but why now she is doing neutered for your gp since they are still so young?

Hello Kimraz, since u cannot get guinea pig in Kedah, means there is no foods and Hays for guinea pig as well in kedah pet shop? Then u might need to online order and delivered to kedah, is it possible for you to do that if u own guinea pigs? It is abit costly also for the postages charges unless u buy more in 1 time. I don't mean anything but just would like to remind u regarding this.

You need to prepared all this needed goods for guinea pigs before you got guinea pig, so that it will not kelang kabut. Just to remind you here that guinea pigs should not take rabbits and hasmter pallate. You need to buy pallate for guinea pigs only. Not sure whether is there any vets which know how to treat guinea pigs at kedah or not but u need to do some research on this also before u own guinea pig because even now in KL, not many vets know how to treat guinea pigs.

Taking Jasper,Jingle and Choco to visit Dr.Jenny yesterday afternoon since i was on leave. Dr.Jenny told me that there is new treatment product for guinea pig (new in Malaysia). It is competitor of Bayer Advantage as it is not only can treat lice but also treat others like Mange and it can deworm also. It is a bit costly compare wt Bayer Advantage but if add up Bayer Avantage + deworm = the price is alomost the same as the new product.

All of my gps are healthy and Dr.Jenny can't really confirmed that Jingle was pregnant as she cant feel the form of the bone of pups yet. She said maybe is early pregnant as Jingle and Jasper mated only on 15th May09, so she ask me to check on Jingle's again in 30 days on 15th June09. Jingle is 678grams, Jasper is 617 grams and Choco is 426grams. Dr.Jenny said Jasper is a bit skinny and he did not gain weight frm last 3 mths until today. Since Jasper still eating a lots, drinking normal and healthy and alert as normal. Dr.Jenny suspect that maybe all the nutrience that Jasper take in has been used on its furs(since Jasper is long hair) She will try to get some plant omega oil for him and hope its can help him to gain more weight.

Today (6th June09) is Jingle big day (her1 year old birthday) party.gif , i would like to wish.gif her healthy and happy always rclxms.gif

Hi Emily, maybe u can try the new product that Dr.Jenny mention, the price for 1 tube is abt rm37-40(if i'm not mistaken) and maybe both of can needs only 1 tube(depense on their body size). After both of them come back taking the treatment, u need to clean their cage as your plan (clen wt dettol and vineger and put under hot sun for 1 hrs and then clean wt water again) and also clean the place that you locate their cage as well. Understand that it is a bit tired for u but kah yau kah yau kah yau.
