i think french cuffed shirts look best when they are the contrast-collared and contrast-cuffed type dress shirts. paired together with good cufflinks, it really makes a man stand out.
an example would be something like this:

i really like those type of shirts, seriously makes you look cool and makes you stand out from the crowd. here in malaysia, the most common one would be the blue coloured shirt with a white collar and white french cuffs. the blue color is definitely smart-looking esp. darker blue.
so anybody here wears contrast-collared, white collar & white french cuff shirts? what colors do you have for ur dress shirts?

it's all about wearing the right things for the right time. i have been wearing them for several years and i think they're alright as long as u groom well and carry yourself well with your clothes. but of course it must suit the occasion and environment...

actually now i have stopped wearing them due to the fact that i don't wear ties at work anymore. so i've switched to single cuffs and though i can still wearing links on them, imho, i think it's a bit scruffy to wear them without ties during work. i'm currently in a managerial position having delved into the working world for more than a decade fyi. the funny thing is, the higher up i go, and the more people i meet higher up, more often than not, they tend to be more understated (not that their clothing is of any lesser quality).

e.g. those blue blue shirts with white collars and cuffs - i have not met (personally) any CEO or chairman wearing this type of shirt (we are talking about malaysia ya). the irony of it is that i see more of younger guys who want to make an impression wearing something striking at work.

as for clubs - i think u can wear anything u damn well please as long as u're comfy and don't sweat like a pig.

on the subject of blue blue shirts with white collars and cuffs, what do you guys think of them (contrast collared/cuffs shirts), especially on guys that wear them? do you think its too striking (esp if the shirt is dark-colored/with patterns/lines) or makes a guy stand out too much esp if he wears the french cuff-type shirt? any of u wear this type of shirt often? do you think this type of shirt is only for men who are confident and want to look "powerful"? do you think its ok for men to wear this on a daily basis if they wanted to?

yeah it was popular in the 1980s. but it is experiencing a revival these days. im seeing men wearing it to the office a lot from time to time.

it looks smart though for me. any good tailorshops in KL that do those types of shirts?

I would stop wearing them when that happens. I'll start again when the trend is gone.
