hey guys, i was hoping can anyone recommend me a nice and compact GPS tracker? recommendations on where to get them would also be a great help.

i'm currently a Pana LX3 user and would like to have a compatible GPS tracker for my geotagging purposes.

GPS tracker or GPS logger? If GPS logger I recommend Columbus V900.

I use a Royaltek RBT-2300 Bluetooth Data Logger GPS.

To connect to the computer, you need to use bluetooth. It doesn't come with usb connectivity.

I use Geosetter software to geotag my photos.

The Columbus V-900 has lotsa functions in it but gonna cost you more. USD99.95 vs USD49.95

Yes, Columbus V-900 is more expensive but it has more function. The most important feature of Columbus V-900 that I really like is its size, small & thin. Also battery life is >20hrs if use for data logging only.

I use GPicSync to do geotagging. It more simpler than GeoSetter.

Edit - Just find out that BuyGPSNow have promotion on i-Blue 821 Slim. Only USD44.95 from originally 79.95

You can get it in Malaysia but it is cheaper if you buy from the internet.

personally i find the Jobo photoGPS rather convenient since its able to mount on the camera hot shoe. but i have yet to find out if it's mountable for the Pana LX3.

The Jobo sure is costly.

No it will not give you a faster fix. That depend on the sensitivity of your GPS receiver and position of satellite.

you get a more accurate fix. but it still needs averaging if you want better reading (note i did not say accurate). The more time you spend on a fix location, the chances of closer tolerance. But do take note of the GPS position accuracy accuracy.. it if is 3 M radious you are fairly good if more than 10 meters, you can be quite fare off.. can still use but you will likely send the guided missile into your neighbors house down the road.... Sadly WAAS is not fully available except for some spots ( i was told). That will give you 1 meter.

Do take into consideration if you are running on auto log or set to time or distance interval.. For mapping purpose using motorized vehicle, we normally set it to 5 seconds. The more data you collect the more power it will consume.. so make sure the product you get serve your purpose.. Sorry , I do not use any of the data-loggers you mention so no data on that.. I use Garmin 62CS and it comes with inbuilt camera if i want to do any photo tagging. In built directional compass give me the extra data that you may not get with add on camera GPS, unless inbuilt.

Omg i just realise I can use my sport watch to do Geotag, gotta try this more often. Utilising ultra mode I can make my watch to last more than a day!
