Most common cause is GPU packaging detachment...

But anything goes wrong to anything contribute to "data processing" in xbox360 will cause 3RRoD. Including drives, power, system software etc.

How long have he played the Xbox360 continuously?
It may be cause by overheat of parts. Most rumors said that one part of the device is most probably cracked when 3ROD appears

Since Xbox360 is just like a PC which has a graphic card or etc in it. Its not very shocking to say that technical issues come from electronic parts.

Time & time again...Thermal paste won't cause short circuit. The only reason for a thermal paste to seize function is the phase change ability is lost.

if 3rrod is due to thermal paste can we open the x360 clean it & re-apply the thermal paste again b4 it happen?
is the 3rrod thing happen all the x360 or just majority of it? any x360 user able to escape it?

Jasper x jasper. sure 3ROD punya. that's what they said bout falcon when i launched. stable, nais, no worries. at last still same werd...hahah...

My 3rod happen ...and revive back by tech2 ..now running vahalla hahaha ...its been 2 months ,hope to do serious gaming soon

dont have high hopes no way can fit jasper GPU into an older model mobo,I repaired my last 360 (zypher) almost 3rd times max is 3 months the console will survive then 3rod again, Wasting money on repairs so i bought a jasper hope it wont 3rod now already 5months touch wood.

My big bro's 360 haven't got 3rod for 2 years until he connect it to LIVE.He played ori game at that time and suddenly got 3rod after spending more than 1 week online gaming.Is it due to the so called "suicide switch" by microsoft?

when I see his 3rod situation, I currently doing experiment on my 360 falcon by not connecting to LIVE(last connected during NXE update last 6 month).Another 8 month to go.If still not get 3rod, confirmed becoz of the "killswitch".
