seriously?
i was thinking, well, you know, i have a small cabinet for my console.. and it's wood... when i play the console with it in the cabinet, the bottom of it (i put it horizontally) felt like an oven.. compared to when i put it on my marble floor, it's much cooler.. i don't want to untidy my room by putting it on the floor, so i thought maybe i can use a cooling pad to counter the small space for the console... it doesn't help? effect the air flow?
oh, you mean that little but many tiny bits of holes on both sides of the console? but putting it flat on the floor also closes these vent holes... |

How is it gonna effect the the airflow? the fan at the back suck out all the heat inside the box, the cooling pad at the bottom just cools down the white plastic of your Xbox.

Nay... don't bother.
You want cooling for the 360, got two options - get the Nyko Intercooler or make one yourself. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/890990 |

just get a Nyko Intercooler TS from Gamers' Hideout and quench your fear once and for all. I'm using one for close to two months already and great, but noisy (you'll soon get used to it)

TS, no matter what advice you get or whateer you think doesn't matter.
Read your manual properly and you can have some printings like "do not place your xbox360 console in an enclosed space. So want it to be tidy, but the place you put it will mess up the system itelf in the 1st place. not convinced? try to read the advice given by Microsoft here:- http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox...ourconsole.aspx something read like this in the link given above:- Prevent the Console from Overheating Do not block any ventilation openings on the console or power supply. Do not place the console or power supply on a bed, sofa, or other soft surface that may block ventilation openings. Do not place the console or power supply in a confined space, such as a bookcase, rack, or stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated. Is the space well ventilated? You need to install exhaust fan on your entertainment center to be considered "well ventilated" |

yeah navigator, i've read the manual and remembered that exact phrase..
but somehow i have a problem in defining "well ventilated" . I think I'll take a picture of my tv rack and posted it here. Maybe some of you can give me your ideas and thought on the place... |

Seriously... after all this while and there is still people believe that adding extra fans to your 360 would make your 360 immune to 3ROD. Unless your fans can magically reduce your 360 internal temperature by 30 degrees else you are just wasting your money. 3ROD is inevitable for older console... as for Jasper, we'll have to wait and see for few more months.

QUOTE(Jcsy @ Apr 13 2009, 11:36 AM) peple actually complain after using that nyko cooler that its worse and makes the console hotter Who would that be ? As far as I know, the Nyko Intercooler TS (the one that has its own power adapter) is simply 'an add-on' at the back that improves the air leaving the back of the console. That's it. lol even the people selling it doesnt recommend it , in lowyat How does it make the console warmer, I have no idea. If at all any 360 console owner wants to 'cool' their console the 'right' way, get a Nyko Intercooler TS and that's it. After all, you're either prolonging the hardware failure or reassuring yourself everything is going to be alrite. |

the fan exhausting the air away from the console.. it sucks the hot stuff from the console.. wait2.. that doesn't sound right muehehehhee..
ahh i see... i used to put it on the floor, exactly in front of the cabinet.. the floor makes it cooler.. i don't know what temperate is on the fan, but the temperature raises to 37 degree max no matter if i put the console on the floor (without the cooling pad) or on the cabinet (with the cooling pad) Added on April 14, 2009, 12:27 pm QUOTE(msn83235502 @ Apr 14 2009, 01:24 PM) there are three fans on the pad.. QUOTE(Orain @ Apr 22 2009, 10:30 PM) just wanna share with u guys...my brother play 1st model xbox 360(xenon) in aircond room and he use nyko intercooler 1st model with coolermaster notepal....he gaming using that xbox for nearly 3 years and there is nothing problem with his 360.now he sold the 360 to my friend because he want a 360 with hdmi since he upgrade to pana plasma.before he pasang aircond in his room,he use 2 notebook cooler(one under and another over the 360) and the nyko intercooler....so what the f%$& that microsoft said that nyko intercooler drain too much power from 360 that can make 3rod???...they are just bullshitting..kesian nyko...jd kambing hitam....until now,the 360 that he sold to my friend can still gaming 6hours straight QUOTE(gunblade @ Apr 24 2009, 10:38 AM) yeah, i've read about this before... They do, not by overdraining power.there are tonnes of people out there who says that the nyko intercooler didn't contribute to the RRoD thing.. But creating arc on it's power connectur & burn the console. |

QUOTE(navigator @ Apr 24 2009, 12:34 PM) yup, i've read about this, too.. in fact, that person even took a picture of the faulty machine and post in on the net..the plastic thing that connects from the cooler to the body of the console heated up and melted. the melted plastic then got stuck onto the console's power connector, thus rendering the console damage. |

why not either you play with your air-cond on (so yourself and xbox can enjoy the cooling) else if you don't have a air-cond, get a table fan and aim at your xbox and blast the fan but don't forget to by the dust protector for your fan else all the dust will be shooting into your xbox.

I never use any cooling aid, placed vertically and let it on for: charging controller, download & pause before a savepoint when playing game which requires a savepoint to save.Added on February 9, 2010, 5:22 pmelse you take off the heat sink and ask some1 to make a duplicate by using copper instead... Sometimes 2 full weeks never off. It failed once and claimed warranty from singapore. The returned unit going thru a same ordeal. Now more than a year and it still never failed except occasional known software bug in a badly coded game. |
