Is this possible ? One of my friend uses his iPod docking system for him to play his electric guitar and it works. What about basses ? What jack is actually needed to do that ? I don't get the chance to ask him ... So that's why I'm asking here now.

I myself plan to get an iPod docking system ... Get an audio interface ... Plug them both into the computer and play my bass from there on. As I don't want my laptop's speaker to be ''exploded'' by the sound of the bass ... I'm thinking of an alternative which is the iPod Docking System.

Something like :

Bass Guitar -> Audio Interface -> Laptop -> Sound comes out through the iPod Docking System which is also plugged into the laptop as a speaker.

P/S : How big is the instrument jack actually( The cable which connects your Guitar to the amplifier )

The iPod docking system which we will be taken as an example is this

Docking System

General specifications

* iPod Dock
* USB Interface
* SD ⁄ MMC Card Slot
* Top Loading CD Player with Programmable CD Memory
* CD ⁄ CD-R ⁄ CD-RW ⁄ MP3 ⁄ WMA Disc Player
* LCD Display with Blue Backlight
* Analogue Tuning with Digital Frequency Display
* Output Power: 1.5W x 2
* Stereo Headphone Jack
* AUX – IN
* Remote Control
* PLays and Charges iPod

Notice the spec : Stereo Headphone Jack - Can I somehow plug something from the laptop to this docking system and make it into a speaker/amplifier ?
