but i just bought a yellow speck see thru satin for my new mbp 15" now the problem is, i cant use the new charger port with the speck. im not sure whether i accidently bought the speck for the older mbp version but with that clipper thing, and the charger being shaped like that, i cant seem to charge my mbp. will go back to machines to ask them about them. cos they clearly stated that its for the new mbp.

anyone out there faces this problem? cos if there isnt, den i proly bought the speck for the older version. and im gonna give that machine 'genius' a piece of my mind if i cant refund that rm178.

lol since there is protector for the macbook...is there any protector for the adapter...my adapter having a few scratches...sad

huh for the charger? lol. bro why do you wanna protect the charger? hahha. rclxub.gif

anyways, took my speck back to machines. and they said the there are many cases of speck not able to fit with the new charger. but fortunately, the JUST stocked up on the new batch of speck casing that FITS with the new charger. i didnt like the colors available there, so instead they gave me a coupon kinda thing of the same value as my old speck so that i can purchase the new speck with the color of my choice within one month or just purchase anything i want within that price. biggrin.gif thumbs up customer service for machines. thumbup.gif

ouch bro! blink.gif think it shud b quite common as it make sense for the clip to make the palmguard to come off. urm try cutting a small portion at the clip area of the palmguard?

yup  nod.gif had too cut off a little of the edges to make it work for me but as i know some ppl got no problems with it  rclxub.gif
*
maybe the clip part has to be between the palmguard and the mbp. but either way, think cutting off that part wud be the best. solve it once and for all. thumbup.gif

the clips didnt do damage on mine, instead they self destruct.
after awhile i realised that there isnt any clips left
*
ive used my speck satin too for quite awhile, about 2years? and the exact thing happened. the clips one by one started to come off, this is for the body, not for the screen. but i think its actually a good thing, now its easier if i wanna remove the casing. it was hell trying to remove the casing before this.

I checked for reviews before I purchased the Speck Satin SeeThru for my 2011 MBA 13 and many complained of exactly the same thing as BRY7 experienced.

However, there's really not much better choice in the market if you need a snap-on case for your Mac.  sweat.gif
*
i think there are quite a few other brands which offer similar snap-on casing ie. incase feather. i went with the speck satin cos i like the surface texture, and the satin's color options. :thumnbs:

yupp it only happens to the body and not the screen.
i gave up on casings, will not be using case for my current Mac.
better of using it naked and using a case when i'm moving around
*
precisely bro! thumbup.gif
cos i travel alot. almost once every two months. so i will den put on the speck casing, and just dump it into my check in luggage. so far nothing happened la. put in there with camera etc.
hahha at first i used the speck satin religiously, and it looked great. until it got scratched. speck satin getting scratched looks really messed up. it was from den on that i decided that i will only used it when the mbp's on the move. now, most of the time its naked on the desk.

p/s: the speck satin 'did' help a lil when i dropped my mbp from table height to parquet floor. nothing happened to my mac. pheww! i think would definitely be more severe if there werent any casing on the mbp that day. flex.gif

one more disadvantage of having it on is it actually makes the MBP heavier if you notice.
and much thicker, putting it on the rMBP would make it look like the cMBP  ohmy.gif
*
thicker yes, but heavier not so much, as the mbp itself is already like a brick.
but what is unfortunate is, before putting on the speck satin, i could fit the mbp into my bag's laptop compartment. after fitting the casing, it wudnt go in. firstly cos of the additional thickness, secondly cos of the surface haven so much friction.

yes, you can try zagg invisible shield
*
my advice is not to get the invisi shield. my friend bought it for his mbp, and the result was bad. alot of dust started to collect at the corners. bcos the edges of the mbp is tapered, hence the sticker does not join perfectly at the corners. er hahha hope im making sense. either way, the invisi shield on my friend's mbp started peeling after awhile. shakehead.gif

thats true but palmguard is a must  icon_question.gif
*
i wud actually prioritise a casing than a palmguard. when i first got a mbp few years back, i was wondering whether i shud get the palmguard. turns out simply cleaning the palm area every once in awhile is sufficient enough to make the palmguard area look 'clean'. perhaps it depends on how much your palm sweats.

I somehow agree with you. I think the only time that my palm actually sweats is when I leave it constantly on the keyboard without resting, like on Dota 2. laugh.gif

Other than that, I don't see it affect much. And the palmguard is really an eyesore on the beautiful rMBP / MBP.

But of course with the palmguard, I don't have to remove my watch and chain every time I'm using my rMBP.  blush.gif
*
yeah the chain and watch part i feel you. but ill b 'in contact' with my mbp for a period of time, hence removing my watch seems.. bearable. blush.gif

i think moshi has one that has sort of the same surface texture of the mbp on the palmguard. even so, you do see a difference.

Being using Moshi Palmguard + Moshi keyboard protector and Specks black satin case since day one on my 15' MacBook Pro. Happy with the palmguard but not to happy with the keyboard protector since it get dirtier and hard to clean. Once in a while, take it off and do some dust cleaning. smile.gif
*
i only have a satin black on my mbp. i used to have a keyboard protector on my mbp keyboard. but i really hate it during 'compression'. like when you press on your keys, it doesnt feel 'natural'. anyone else understands this feeling hahha?
didnt use it after two days.

now i use it when im transporting my wireless keyboard, or when im not using my wireless keyboard for awhile to prevent dust collection. blush.gif

Just asking any palm guard protector for rmbp and also trackpad protector?

ok gonna find in mudah now.

ejioux mind sharing how you clean your palm type area? now i so scared dirty my rmbp i type never touch the palm area now .. sad.gif susah.
*
this is not ideal but i usually use the spray that i use to clean my monitor, spray it on a micro fibre cloth as well, and clean the palm area. i have another micro fibre cloth purposely for the monitor so not to scratch the monitor, just in case any 'hard' dust gets trap while cleaning other parts of the mbp.

my mbp has been using a speck satin for a few years now. use it only when i need to move about, it is naked when placed on a table for a long time.
never dealt with heat issues so i guess its ohkay? blush.gif
