Need advice here...

I told this girl I liked her and asked her if she would be my gf 2 days ago. I imagined all kinds of possible reactions and answer she might give, but not this:

In short, she said, don't you have an important event on Saturday? You should focus on that thing first, it is more important. We will talk about this later.

Since then she would still reply my messages, but she would absolutely avoid this topic. She would always ask me to focus on my work first. Her replies are also much shorter than usual.

Apa maksud...? I'm going nuts thinking about this all day long for the past 2 days! I can't believe this is happening. What should I do?

Additional information:
1. I'm currently overseas for that "important event"
2. I've known this girl for more than 2 years and was really close for about a year already. During this period she showed a lot of signs that she liked me (unless I misinterpreted them, which is unlikely because they're not even subtle - they're really clear)
