Hi there, got a MacPro3.1 running S.Leopard.

Of late the display goes pixelate on random timing. After a 10-15 minutes shut down. it will run again. I have clean the heat sink of the graphic card and re apply the thermal past. I have even change the monitor.

BTW the display card is ATI Radon HD 2600 xt.

Hi there,

Can you explain what you meant by "After a 10-15 minutes shut down. it will run again. "

You meant your Mac Pro will self power up after 10-15 mins of shutdown?

Ha ha..How I wish. After a 10-15 minutes shut down. and a re boot normaly will solve the pixelate prob till it show up again later in the day.

Side note the system did not freeze as you still can see the mouse as it move and do a proper shut down.

Which card are you using?ATI Radon HD 2600

And what port are you connected to? Full size DVI? Mini Display? The card have 2 DVI out. Tested both result are same.

The basic troubleshooting you can try is using different cable or different port. Re seat the card to different slot. Reset PRAM.
At this time have re sit the card to another pcie slot. So far today did not have the symptom yet. Reset PRAM? howto please.

We have encounter similar issue on a Mac Pro with dying graphic cards, weeks later the owner reported the symptoms the card gone totally, no display on power up. A replacement is required.

How much will a replacement will be for the display card?
Thank you for your time.
