imho, u hv quite a bit for budget...not sure if you've considered plasma, but i'd definitely recommends Plasma over LCD...but if gaming if your thing, and u've gone thru the whole plasma vs lcd thingy, by all mean, go for it...

coming back to your question, Sharp is the one to go..yes, suprisingly, most forumer here dun really talk about Sharp..but Aquos gets my vote...looking at the specs for 42A66, it has got everything in it u'd likely need.

one model Sony is comparable to Sharp 42A66m is their Z series, 40 or 46 inch...which will set u back something like RM8499 & RM10,999...or an older model, S series...dunno how much that is...

still, u shud experience them both with ur own eyes...then make a wise decision...
