after a year of admiring mt fuji from afar, i finally climbed up the mountain a couple of days ago. it was a 12-hour climb/descent from morning to evening, so i didnt get to watch sunrise from the peak.
here's the view from the foot of mt fuji: ![]() view from halfway up (~2500m): ![]() and the crater at the peak. remember that fuji is still a sleeping volcano ![]() |

QUOTE(clemong_888 @ Aug 4 2009, 11:07 AM) funny story. we had a place to stay at 7th station but we wanted to go to the top, so we started climbing at 9pm. but by the last 8th station rest house, my friend had horrible altitude sickness, she was vommiting. so we stopped. she rested there while we rested outside in the cold! no way im gonna pay another 5k yen per person for the night you guys started from 5th station fujinomiya? i guess altitude sickness affects ppl in different ways. for me i always loose my appetite at high altitudes. same thing happened at mt kinabalu |

QUOTE(tatsuyachiba @ Sep 10 2009, 02:11 PM) How do you tell if an mp3 was legally (e.g. you own the CD) or illegally ripped? I believe you can't. wow, you working as a spy or something?I'm sure all of us keep sensitive info on our laptops. My biggest fear used to be someone stealing my laptop and then booting/ghosting the HD to obtain all my personal data (e.g. financial data/logins etc). This is quite easily done. That's why I use (my company mandates these): 1) Encryption software like TrueCrypt which not only uses AES (or better) to encrypt data but also hides the drive if you so choose. Nobody will know that the partition is there. I always hear about Malaysian cops carting away computers for forensics - if perps use encryption, there's no way the mata will be able to crack 2) I also schedule a freespace wipe (I'm paranoid) with a 7-way DOD algorithm with a program like Eraser or Disk ReDactor. 3) My smartphone's also encrypted and I can request a remote "poison pill" be sent that nukes the phone. by the way, anyone going to the tokyo gameshow from 26-27 sept? |
