If insist on Asian name, then do you mind ask why is company called Capital Dynamics ah? - "Capital Dynamics" are 2 actual Ang moh words
Why not Asian name like Hong Leong, Genting, Tenaga, Hartalega, Bursa, Shangri-la etc

Just want to share my personal experience here with the job seekers who are keen to know more about Capital Dynamics since I have not seen any new feedback on the company.

I got to know Capital Dynamics through a senior who has been working for Capital Dynamics for more than 10 years. She joined as a fresh grad. Over the years, she has been given a lot of career opportunities and exposures, which is the part that really excites me! biggrin.gif

I went for an interview recently. Was actually surprised that they called me for interview very fast, like within a day or two after I applied, I expected it to be like at least few weeks, like the other companies. In fact, Capital Dynamics is one of the very few companies in the financial industry that is still hiring.

To my greater surprise, Mr Tan Teng Boo actually joined the interview session and he was really friendly and approachable. He shared some insightful advice on the career prospect with company and the training opportunities that the company is willing give to those who are committed about achieving a success, including a fresh grad, like me! thumbup.gif

Well, he was upfront about a few unique policies that the company has. Since I saw a lot of discussions above on the policies, I shall share them here with everyone:

1) no personal mobile phone policy, which to me it makes sense given the nature of the business which is highly regulated, they need to ensure no leakage of sensitive information which may lead to serious impact like licence revocation, monetary penalty by the regulator, jail term etc. As long as they still allow employees to use company phone to communicate with family and friends at any time, that is fine for me;

2) Asian name policy, which is thought provoking, I realised that I am actually still mentally colonised by the Westerners, I gave an English name to myself to make it convenient for my non-Asian friends to remember and pronounce, I never thought of insisting to teach them how to pronounce my Asian name properly. I do agree with the CEO that we have to respect ourselves, our root before others would do the same to us; notworthy.gif

3) nap policy, this is interesting, you can actually take naps in the office any time during the office hour;

4) casual dress code, to my very surprise, for a financial company to have such dress code (I see some of the employees wearing jeans, slippers, shorts when I was there for interview, I thought they have a special function!). party.gif

The only thing that made me a bit hesitant is that they do work on Saturdays (half day). The CEO shared their vision of becoming a great global company and their ambition to be a voice of Asia. I do understand that this industry is highly competitive and I have heard a lot from my seniors and friends who work in the industry about the common long hours and extra effort in order to stay competitive. I guess as a fresh grad, what I need most at this stage is a good training ground so I can catapult in my career. So I will give it a try! Wish me luck biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

It has everything to do with the name of the company, since this is about about names, and company policy regarding names.
If there is anything i would link this policy to, it would be the name of the company ...

Hi LeonL, i think the important message for the Asian name policy is to respect who we are, to understand ourselves, before we seek respect and understanding from others, especially people from different ethnic groups. I believe this works for non-Asians as well. Ultimately, the objective is to create a more harmonious world, where everyone respects and understands each other better, thus reduces unnecessary conflicts and war. I do appreciate this policy.

This has nothing to do with the name of the company, you should not mix up the 2. If that is your argument, we should not use English at all!
