hi all, how long can a plasma last? as durable as conventional crt tv? my mom is using 7-yr old 29" crt and is still alive & kicking; plan to get one for her as mother's day gift, she is an astro fanatic (>10 hr on avg) so plasma should be a right choice eh? thks~

hi, is TH-P42X10K = TC-P42X1 (in US) as i hv found this thread @ http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1128487 , it's about break-in & reference setting (for after-break-in).

btw, how many hv bought this in Kuching as i'm about to get one soon, which shop got the best offer. Thks~

sotong, afraid to touch service menu!!  help? hehe
*
have u ever access into it yet? well, i'm going to use my camcorder to record sweat.gif or digicam to snap down the default setting, just in case any mishap happen, i still can revert back to original setting.

@ htkaki, i hv make up my mind to go for plasma even there is a possibility of IR or burn-in as astro looks terrible on LCD, i guess i'm gonna "curse" by my mom if i get her a LCD for astro watching tongue.gif .

btw, since u r a pro in this field, may i know what break-in setting do u use? is it follow the guide at avsforum by d-nice or u have your own method? thks~

I went into service menu to check the usage time only. There are very detailed instructions on how to do this over at the PV80 thread. I need step by step guide! Will probably wait for anfieldude. When are you getting yours?

if TH-P42X10K = TC-P42X1 , then i will use the guide @ http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1128487 , post#1 is about 120hr break-in (no changes needed in service menu), post#2 is about optimum setting but u can always tweak base on your preference, need to be careful with changes under service menu tho'.

Re Post #1: so using the "thumbdrive files", I leave it playing for 120 hours, or how?  Sorry, am slow lah.

frm what i understand frm the thread (close to 3hr reading sweat.gif ), 1st set to below setting:

Picture Mode: Vivid
Contrast: 100
Brightness: 55
Color: 65
Tint: 0
Sharpness: 50
Color Temp: Cool
C.A.T.S: Off
Video NR: Off

Advance Options
MPEG NR: Off
Black Level: Light

then download the break-in img, unzip the 20 jpg to SD, insert to SD slot and start to cycle the slides in "slow" mode for 120hr. After u hv done break-in, set the "warm" setting (for both SD & HD) according to reference setting at post#2, need to be extra cautious as it invilve tweaking inside service menu. but i hv not experience yet so dun take my word 100% as of now until i get my unit to test tongue.gif

@kpchow75, thks for the info, as what i understand, his break-in method is applicable for all G12 panel. his recommended setting is to expedite the break-in process so i dun think it should be a prob in using other pic mode. btw, i dun hv the unit so i can't really test.

btw, any sifu here can enlighten how do u break-in x10?

frm the site, there is one "coming soon" under x-series, what would it be? and any idea about the price on G or S series? Thks~

@termite9, it is advise not to chg any setting under service menu unless u r clear what u r trying to do.

btw, why your brightness only 10? i saw ppl setting is at 70, contrast at about 80 depends on one preference

@zhengyang89, it's a low range camcorder, so can't expect much on the performance, but good thing is small enuff to bring around for any event/happening

@termite9, nice price u got there. normally with 2-yr extended warranty need to top up how much?

thks htkaki~ so this x10's official warranty is 3-yr; if i'm not mistaken i did see a buyer mentioned he get 5-yr warranty for the set, is that mean the additional "2-yr warranty" is covered by the shop rather frm panasonic? thks~

i dunno if the run-in would really improve the pq or worth the electricity but ppl said this is the shorcut to get the set mature so as less susceptible to ir so i did it.
btw, i feel the set is really hot, hope the set could endure the long hour watching frm morning until night time...
