Greetings Lyners, Wish to conduct a personal review of this alarm. Kindly note, this serves no marketing purpose and I'm not paid to do this review. Its solely on a consumers point of view. With permission from fellow moderator I hope this thread can be granted, If this thread serves no more than a spam, kindly inform me and I shall Close it Thanks.

Proton Stock alarm has given me some sleepless night. The issue here was the alarm will kick off whenever the climate is too hot & humid or too cold. It happens once in a while and kinda nuisance. Checked with my local proton service center and found out changing the stock alarm to a new one is not feasible. Hence I opt to get a 3rd party alarm for a much more added feature and security.

Two way alarm was my choice, and there are a few well known brands like steelmate, tenon and more. I was a bit clueless on choosing the unit as most have resemblance to the design and feature. The price may vary from brand to brand. Along my findings, I've stumbled across this alarm 'CRIMEFIGHTER'. Small research and study was conducted to understand more of this new kid on the block. Specs are as below

This alarm is kind of new in Malaysia. Based on some rumors, it was recently launched and yes, its now part of Malaysian product. The above spec might seem skeptic, well I'll let the videos below do the judging. This unit carries many names and I believe its born out from the same manufacture as Prostar as it carries similar resemblance minus the windscreen touch key unlock (or whatever it's named).

I decided to take up my full courage on getting this alarm since most of my findings points out a positive pointers, one heck state of the art gizmo. Installed the alarm and was very happy with the features. This alarm shares the same feature as steelmate 898G and more. Installation part ain't straight forward. It took almost a day just to hook up the system. Yes its new and wiring is pretty much complex. Highly suggest a skill wiring man to install the unit to avoid any mishap from arising.

Alright enough with the crap, Lets showcase the real deal of this gizmo. Like Steelmate it offers a long distance 2 way remote. But it has easy to scroll menu. You can literally understand each feature and its very user friendly. The OLED screen really is handy and unique. Remote design is just like a walkie talkie but with screen. Anyone whom is literate can understand the remote and seriously its user friendly. Pick it up and start using. Animation on the screen really puts all your hard earn cash worth while. No more stagnant LCD with a static car image on the remote.

Remote Start:- The remote start is good. You can program it to start at specific time or you can directly command it start at a press of a button. Remote start duration can be selected under the menu for desire preference. Very handy and useful. You can just kill the engine any time you want. Good if someone steals your car at the traffic light and runs off. you with only the remote and disable the vehicle a further distance.

Turbo Timer:- Turbo timer features is as similar to other turbo timer alarm. You can set your desire time, disable it or kill it off anytime when it still running.

Passive Arm & Disarm: This is a neat feature which till today, I have yet still encounter underdog 3rd party alarms offer such feature. Basically the keyless entry system is passively activated. Walk towards your vehicle and the car will unlock by itself. Theres a proximity sensor on the antenna which you can adjust the sensitivity. Turns your car into those high end Mercs or Jags. Once you leave your car unattended and the sensor didn't sense your presences, it will lock and arm the alarms back. In the even you're near the car and the alarm and it unlocks. Everytime the door opens, the signal light will alert nearby motorist of your presence, reducing the risk of running you or the occupants down. Yes it works even when the engines off and no key engaged. Best of all when the doors close, the alarm will chirp to alert on all doors have been closed. 30 sec later when you're gone & sensors does not pick your presence around, it will lock & arm if you forgotten to lock it via the remote.

Rest of the features include locking car after 5 sec upon ignition. Retain engine run, if you need to go out for a while to pick up some urgent stuffs minus the need of restarting the engine. Good for prolonging the starter motor. The car will remain armed with the engine running and you can walk away to do your short chores. Once returned, just unlock place in your key and drive. Any event of burglary during that time, the Engine will disengage and alarm will kick off. Smart nod.gif . In addition You can upload photos into the colour screen remote as a wall paper. At home/leaving your vehicle days unattended, you can switch off the remote to conserve battery storage.

========================

Alright most of the above statemen very much tempted readers on the bright side of this device. Lets talk about the down side which I would have to agree with some forumers before they gun me down with the reality and issues. This product is kinda new in the market and very much not many is bold enough to try it out. Being a guinea pig, I will continue to raise up any stability issues arise, however so far I've yet encounter any. Fingers cross its still very stable and accurate, both remote and alarm module. Secondly, It only comes with one remote or transponder. Yes a big disappointment. You will need to buy another separate remote(user preference), however programming it is as easy as ABC and you can even erase the previous remote from accessing your car. The alarm is good enough to relearn the new remote signal or remembering them both so you can have a spare unit. Thirdly is on remote. It might be aesthetically nice and big, but to some people it might be uncomfortable to kept a fat remote in your tight jeans. I'm skinny so no problem with it. Fourth is on the remote itself. Despite its big, still there is no vibration feature. A major let down and this gives steelmate a shout out. Fifth is on the OLED screen. I have difficulty ready it under bright sun light, but is not really important as most of the time basic feature of lock and unlock doesn't require any screen usage. When I'm in doors only I will access the feature. After all who wants to bake under the hot sunny day? Last not least is on the Charger itself. It came with a cigarette adapter but no wall socket charger. A cross over adapter is required to have the cigarette adapter hooked on to the wall socket to ensure charging is possible indoors.

Well overall, I would summarize its a very good product and highly recommend to those whom wish to try out alternative 2 way alarms other than steelmate. I only showcase some important highlights. The rest is pretty much similar to conventional 2 way alarm features. Above are my verdicts and comment as well as pointers may differ to other users. In short I would like to conclude this alarm packs every know feature at a reasonable price.

Feel free to discuss, fire, flame or ask any available questions regarding this product. I will remain as a neutral user to voice my personal opinion.

Cheers and have a pleasant day.

Haha, Sorry. CrimeFighter doesn't come with the windscreen input feature as mentioned above.

If they do include this feature, not many would know of its function. people will just find it as some windscreen sticker. If gatal also the alarm will trigger surely you will come down and catch those pranksters.

Ya the gadget sounds cool but you havent tell us how much the gadget is worth+ installation. If its around the price of a steelmate,I rather go for the trusted brand.
*
Sorry, price wise is different. It cost more. According to my vendor, the unit I'd paid for was under marketing promotion before launching. Not sure but this might disappoint you, the upcoming unit might cost more. You can try to look out for some vendor and ask for the pricing. Honestly it doesn't fall under the steelmate range price. Steelmate is china made and with mass production, they can keep the pricing down below sub rm500. If you're looking for a long time standing manufacture, just opt for steelmate. As mentioned, this is new in our market. It would take sometime to built up its own reputation.

Captors are great but expensive for me. Unless I have a child driving around and wish to keep tab on his whereabout. Pretty much it won't serve me well unless the vehicle has been stolen.

this is exactly the same alarm im using now...and so far pretty good....realiability wise as said..finger cross...so far so good...signal range is fairly good..ur review is straight on...is wat i tot about it too..as usual it has the remote boot short key. and can alwiz check the status of the car whether got kena bump or alarm triggered. there is shock sensor too..wen any alarm or shock sensor is trigger b4 wen u away, it will notify the driver via status on the remote or during unlock with 3 chrips(normally unlock is 2 chirp)

im using in my waja...but i remain my original immobilizer thus cant auto start ....but if wanted too..i can place the immobilizer chip at my key on to the keyhole..

another cons u left out is...even ur key in the keyhole..it will still lock ur car if ur car haven start it...thus dun place ur key inside...it will auto lock after 30s...

if those wana get this alarm..pls do go to www.rev.com.my

pretty good to replace our original alarm...but nid to find a good alarm installer..if not..u will end up with a headache..

u can hv 3 external inputs like (all auto window up module, voice module etc)

Few ways you can get around. 1. Change to active alarm. 2. If you wish to select passive alarm, make sure the proximity unlock is there. It will unlock by it self should after 30s it engages the passive lock. 3. run valet mode.

Yes, its a good contender. I'm still experimenting on how far can the proximity unlock sense. Need a we more days to test it out.

Yeah the proton immobilizer is the pain in the ass if you wish to run a remote start.

QUOTE(-storm- @ Mar 29 2009, 07:51 PM)
Does it come with immobiliser with cut points? if it does not then no point as it can be easily disabled like any other alarm.
*
No immobilizer. If your car comes with an immobilizer its another plus point to keep it. If not you can kill the engine with the remote making sure that the car is driven and stopped in public dense areas. Surely it will catch alot of attention. Another way is to install a relay. Cost around rm 20 or less. When your alarm is triggered, ignition to engine is cut off.

Good question. I've yet tried it out. According to my wireman. As long as the alarm is triggered. The ignition wire is connected to the engine is cut off. Disable the alarm will revert the connection back to normal.

Honestly immobilizer does comes in handy in Malaysia. However, there are some claiming that you can get a master key for the immobilizer in ebay. Pretty much its for tow trucks to tow offenders parking at restricted location.

Relay wise it depends on how its been wired. I'm not familiar with the wiring but the relay is kept some where secluded.

If your remote runs out of battery you can change to valet mode with the key. And disable back once the remote is fully charge via the remote.

Guys, keep in mind that alarms are not fool proof devices. I still keep my steering wheel and pedal lock both securing the vehicle. Most crooks prefer to steel expensive ICE, Gauges or electronic items whereby its easy to run away undetected as opposed to the whole vehicle. Alarms serve to ward off intruders and to alert you as well as nearby pedestrian of an event of burglary.

im still thinking to upgrade my alarm to crimefighter too, really glad someone already review about this alarm.

normal remote alarm not require to charge the battery, just change the battery once a year or within 2 years.

and the Qs is,

how long the battery can last? and how long u need to charge? if u forgot to charge battery, must arm/disarm manually??

thanks and really good review.

Yet concluded the whole battery stamina. Will keep you posted on my findings.

Guys, Apologize on some minor mistakes. Before I sending out the wrong message, the kill off feature whereby the burglar has driven off is optional. Just realized on the manual. A separate fuel pump cut device is required to trigger the effects. Haven tried it out but will do so in future to confirm if the remote kill off is sufficient to kill the engine. Guess other alarms will have an edge over this.

So far no. Didn't even reset once. Everything is stable. Just some scratch in the inner side of the protective screen. Other than that it still works like a charm

QUOTE(howiechoo @ Mar 31 2009, 12:41 AM)
Proton immo can be disable will some little extra charges at me here. It's not a big prob.
how fast can you react after your car had been stolen and drive away? the remote are not going to control your car effectively if the range are far enuff. Unless you tell me that the transmitting rf can pass thru a few wall...

As per mentioned above. Alarm is form of prevention. Its not a fool proof device. Which is why I still lock my car with conventional steering wheel lock or pedal lock. Even the ever famous Merc S class can be unlock within record time of 1 minute under the hands of an expert. Seen some hong kong locksmith did it. But can't dig back the source.

Wow, Thats really far. So far I still cannot justify the distance. Some places I can fetch good reception after some distance, Some not. Guess I need to find an open space as a test reference to see theoretical distance. According to the manual, Tinted screens reduces signal coverage by a small margin.

Yeah, I'm with the same predicament as you!  icon_question.gif

Some saw the auto window wind up/down is not so good, as it might cause your original winder a problem!  rclxub.gif separate module. require to purchase, the alarm only features a feature which can trigger the power window module..

Although steelmate doesnt auto lock, but it sends a vibration to the remote as a reminder, so the user can decide. hmmm different people have different preference. I prefer to walk off after some distance, the car will lock by itself and my remote will prompt me that the car is locked. You can set passive or active arm to suit your needs.

I dont want the door to be locked when the key is in the ignition, prefer brake press, would it still lock if the door is ajar?will lock in a period of time after ignition. Locking mechanism isn't executed via brake if not mistaken, it's driven by time duration

when the remote battery is weak, how do we change to mode so that we could open the door manually?use key. There is a tutorial on how to disengage the alarm using key when your remote is totally flat.

those are the few questions I have. Hope some users here could answer, my advance thanks.
