how exactly does the RAM thingy work when using Parallels? like now in windows, my system information shows 512MB RAM, while my overall RAM is 2GB, so does Parallels allocate 512MB RAM to windows leaving 1.5GB RAM to my mac or how does it work?

question for parallels desktop users, do you guys install windows straight onto parallels or do you guys create a virtual machine for the boot camp partition?
i didnt install mine through boot camp, which means i can't just run windows right like i can through boot camp? secondly, is it recommended to do the "run parallels compressor" thingy? i did it (ran manually), everything there was ticked.. and now when i start windows i get this "your minimum memory is too low" popup.. think i made a bad mistake by going through it.. |

QUOTE(don8ld @ Aug 6 2009, 10:01 PM) Hi guys, you mean Parallels or VMware?okay. You see I just bought a brand new MBP 13" Im so happy (: Okay. I dont wanna screw it up like my other macbook haha. So which is better Parallels or Bootcamp? Can it play games, like l4d, dota those stuff Added on August 6, 2009, 10:02 pmDoes parallels lag a lot?? Parallels is the more popular one i think, VMware used to be better but now not so.. you can't exactly compare beteen Parallels and Bootcamp, Parallels enables you to run your mac and windows side by side.. however Bootcamp is built into your system and allows you to run either mac or windows.. for gaming it is recommended to use Bootcamp so all your resource will be allocated to your windows for best performance.. |
