anyone has experience in changing from virtualbox to using vmware or parallels?

i've created a virtual machine with virtualbox and am planning on trying out vmware and parallels, the virtual machine file is in the vmdk format, do i just open that file straight with vmware or parallels?

google hasn't given me a clear answer, hope sifu's here can help, otherwise i'll be trying out and reporting here

just started using my gf's MBP late 2011, transferred my PC over using Parallels, now using Windows 7 in Parallels 8 in Mavericks.

at first it was laggy as hell, my MBP was only 4GB RAM, just upgraded it to 8GB and now it's much better.

the beauty of using Parallels is i don't have to bother with backup for my Windows 7, and can revert to any previous snapshot any time (not that i've tried though heh), just have to use Time Machine backup

oh ya forgot to mention i got Parallels 8 through MacUpdate Promo, that time it was bundled together, think i got like 20 over software for USD49.99 or something, including Parallels so it was a bloody good deal.

I'm wondering if parallel desktop does worth for its money. I tried the trial version and it's kind of lacking in performance wise compare to bootcamp (Normal usage , no gaming). Even the resolution, 1200x800 is the best scale for 13mbpr and you'll notice the pixels/blurry.

using Parallels 8 here (purchased via Mac Update bundle iirc), and using rMBP, honestly it kinda lags my whole system even when running only 1 VM which is Windows 7, and I've got 8GB RAM here with 2.6GHz i5.

I am running on PD9, what's the limit of OS i can install? Can i install 6 window 7 in one PD? What are the hardware requirement?

since you're running it, you can probably find out. but i doubt there's any limit as to how many VM's you can have. hardware wise i'd say a minimum of 8GB RAM
