Ok, this is a very old PSOne, bought in 2001. It started like that 2 years ago, but I didn't care until now, because my PS2 is unmodded NTSC U/C and I suddenly now need to play a PAL game (cannot play due to region lock, I imported the PS2 just to play Strawberry Shortcake game. The PAL game in question was not released in NTSC U/C at all to my knowledge), since my PSOne is Australian set so PAL game no problem with it. Current problem is the video output is very dark, color missing, sync issue (sometime screen rolling). It just suddenly become like that one day.

hv u tried using the antenna cable via the converter?

it connects ur video output to the antenna port and then u have to manually search it like any tv channels. kind of like connecting ur vcr to and old tv (the converter cable can be bought in game / video stores in the ps1 and ps2 heydays but i dunno most shops still have or not now)

I've seen this happen on my Sega Dreamcast before. In my case, I was using a 3rd party S-video cable. The cable worked fine for the first year or so, then it started showing symptoms that you described. In fact, the banding issue that you showed on the sreenshot looked exactly like my problem. Replacing the cable with the stock composite video cable corrected it. Have you tested with a different cable before?

Your cable doesn't seem grounded well, meaning a broken cable. Just get a replacement cable and if you can't find one I'll swap one with you plus cash for your unmodded PS2 drool.gif

The lens is slowly dying I'm afraid, and it's a common sight. Get a another one or replace the lens (a bit difficult these days) to solve your problem

Actually I've tried two different cables- the stock cable and the PS2's cable. Both also exhibit same video issue.

No, I'm not interested in getting rid of the PS2 at the moment.

Ah, nevermind. I'll see about taking it to a shop to get it diag- most likely like said lose ground contact somewhere.

Thanks for your help guys smile.gif

Heheh, the game I want to play is Vib Ribbon, which I need to play on a real PSOne for obvious reasons (want to make it load a particular music CD I have). Google say the game is available in the PS Store oredi if not coming soon, but PS Store need Singapore Credit Card, rite? Sumore PSP cannot load music CD, so the main reason I want to play the game also gone if use PSP. And I have no intention to buy PSP at the moment.

I oredi send the PSOne for service. GPU rosak, going to cost RM100+.
