I just got my 16gb iphone from maxis last week. Initially was great but sometimes it crashes.

I am using Itunes account from the US store, I sync applications from my PC, but songs i sync itunes from my macbook.

It doesn't allow me to sync applications even using the same login on my macbook, but when i use pc it allows. ( maybe cause i registered using pc first)

anyway.. started installing some appliations had some fun, charged and next morning used the phone.

Started pressing applications, it loaded a while then when back to home. All my applications that i could use the night before all corrupted after i charged.

Phone function and safari all ok only application failed.

I reboot phone pressing sleep and home button for 10secs screen went blank. Then press the sleep buton apple logo appears, but just HANGS THERE.

Tried off then on, off then on, off then on..logo still hangs. decided to ON and leave it longer.. later the apple home appears. but applications still cant load.

deleted them off, reinstall them using applications function itself on the iphone. applications works now.

so far now so good.. but i think it will crash again.

and i noticed i charged from night till morning.. and when i press my general > usage "the time since last full charge is empty" is not stated anything after a 8 hour charge???

and Call time lifetime states 3 hours left.

why????

u managed to get ur iphone working back..ermm whats the problem here?

how bout u JB ur phone. hehe

how about using the wonderful method, restore and try to install all back the application, if the problem still happend then its time to send it back to maxis and get a new 1.before this you on 2.2.1 firmware.? try to restore back maybe can solve the problem.

I got my iphone 16gb 3g from maxis as well about 3 days back. On the 1st day i got it, it was all fine and smooth.

The 2nd day it started to crash and hang especially when there's a incoming call during the standby mode. It rings and vibrates but i just can't pick it up. After the phone call ends, i have to restart the phone then it will go back to normal. Happens like at least 2-3 times a day.

Sometimes when i make a phone call, right after i press the dial button the whole screen goes blank off into standby mode. Can't press the power button nor the home button. I have to wait for like few seconds before i could press them and make the call again.

Btw the phone is still a "virgin" no applications installed yet and a 1st time mac/iphone user. And i thought apple rarely hangs/crashes. Anyone happen to know whats going wrong with my iphone?

The first thing you should do upon getting your iPhone is connect to iTunes and get the latest 2.2.1 firmware update. For me, since I'm on 2.2.1, i seldom see a crash app on mine.

hi, i think the call time, lifetime means how long you used your phone for calls. Not how much time left to use....

I wondering after u get your Maxis set , the Firmware is what version by default??

and did u guys update to the latest version ?

The problem with picking up calls sound similar to the iphone 2g a friend of mine has. However, he did jailbreak his phone and I suspect that could be related. I don't know if you jailbreak yours but I haven't had a single issue with the phone with the exception of a half-second pause when I shutdown an app by pressing the Home button. But it doesn't happen all the time.

FYI, the maxis set I have already comes with firmware 2.2.1. I've installed various applications from Appstore, synching, used safari on 3G/WIFI, listened to music and podcasts and even watched movies on it. No hanging whatsoever. Never needed to reset the phone ever since I got it on 20th march.

Mostly u need to do a "restart" after u installed any apps b4 can properly make it working...while after ur "restart" (home+power 10 sec), then ur general > usage "the time since last full charge is empty" will restart itself...^^..same goes if u change your themes with winterboard..is normal when u face all this problem at first...so enjoy ur phone...n welcome to the world of iphone

from experience, either ur installing that time got problem (rarely but do happen) or ur usb port just hirewire, try change to another usb port. Perhaps u should restore the phone to factory setting first.

Have you "authorized" iTunes account with your MacBook? Its not corrupt, just sync back to your PC and it should work (:

today using so far so good... and my firmware is 2.2.1

all my applications i d/l using wifi in the Iphone App. still functions.

Can i ask if im using the same login name with my mac and pc, but when use PC my Iphone can sync application, but when i plug to my macbook it says wont allow to sync application. why ah?

and how do you end an application if it hangs?

1)Did you authorize your mac book account?

2) Not sure myself, but Itunes have the setting that normally only allows a pc/mac with the application to sync. maybe authorize you itunes can by pass this.

3) try other port of usb in mac book

You must authorise each device you use up to a maximum of 4 or 5 devices otherwise you will lose your programs if you sync to an unauthorised itunes.

Please give that a try.

Need help, i'm new with iphone. I recently bought an iphone & installed some applications downloaded from itune. Occasionally some applications that I have downloaded cannot be open, but after resetting it I was able to. yes maxis, oh so troublesome... sigh i hv to go for ching beng tmr.

I'm a new iphone user. I installed many apps from AppStore n everything were fine until this afternoon. After playing Ferrari, all installed apps cannot b run! I restart it but no success. So I install a new pgm, everything worked again. I was glad until I sync it with iTunes for pic n music, it came back. Any permenant for this? Help!!!!!!!!!!

I cant open apps that were downloaded from App Store. The situation is when the app i double clicked is launching .. then it will close automatically by itself. Want to know under what circumstances case like this will occur. tq

i've already upgraded to latest firmware why i still cant open apps from app store ler? when the app is being clicked it started launching.. but few seconds later it will close by itself

Are these apps synced over using iTunes? More importantly, are these apps purchased by yourself with your own account?

The way I see it, it is either your Springboard's gone wonky and requires a restore, or you are using apps that are somehow transferred over into your iPhone via non-conventional ways.(SSH and homescreen .plist edits) If these apps are not tied to your iPhone, and you forced it into the iPhone, they will exhibit the same behaviour.

So which is it? If these are legitimate apps bought via legitimate ways synced over using iTunes, then I suggest a Restore. IF you are stealing off someone else's apps and trying to make it work on yours, then helping you would mean helping a pirate. I sincerely hope in your case, you are the former.

DRM is a file related to iTunes licensing.

Apple is aware of this and they promised the fixes since last year but till today, it is still happening. Hope the OS3.0 will help.

Do not be overly worry as there's a quick solution for this. Simply download a small app from iTunes and install it, the damaged DRM file will be replaced and after that, ALL other iTunes apps will run again.

But then, it will re-occur again, no guarantee, especually u sync it with iTunes. Hope this info helps. Anyhow, I am loving the iPhon very much.

how come i have never encounter such problem before when loading up games and applications?

Make sure you have registered an account with iTunes, sync, & then only you can use the apps

Lucky u dude, it is a known problem but not every single unit crashes. Maybe under certain memory pattern only it crashes.

need help here again, with my earlier problem I managed to exchange a new set from maxis. But now i cannot sync applications i downloaded from itune to pc.... sigh

we are no mind readers. hence kindly list down precisely your steps, when you were attempting to sychronise.

waa, maxis set so problematic. i have a singtel set, never had any problem at all. im lucky

Added on April 18, 2009, 12:23 amhi guys... i'm back again, my 1st unit frm maxis had problems with opening applications downloaded frm itune. Every now & thn whn i open those applications thy'll not open but instead went back to home. I found a way to solve it is by deleting any of the applications & download it back again. after that all applications works fine but wont be long b4 it goes back to d same prob.

I sent back to maxis & replace with a new set, however 2nd set menu button was rather not responsive, hv to put a bit of pressures for it to work. thn sms hang occasionally and once happen frm call log i touch a particular number to call out but instead it jumps to another number & start calling.

i had the 2nd set for about 3 days, 4th. day i sent it back to maxis again & complaint. again thy replaced me for a 3rd set, i'm currently using it for the 3rd day now, today the applications problem is back to haunt me again plus i'm currently in overseas & won't be goin back home till mid of next month... sigh

i'm just so unfortunate to hv string of problems with my 1st iphone.

thanks bro... yup tats wat i hv been doing but still its kinda annoying especially like when i'm in oversea, whn certain application that I hv downloaded & need to use & it crash. sigh & whn thr are no wifi or anything for me to download that's a real pissed off.

Tips for you bro to avoid crashing:

1) Avoid syncing with iTunes when you can't install new pgm to solve yr problem when yr overseas.

2) On running any applications, do not press the HOME button suddenly. Go back to the Menu of the application before pressing HOME button.
