Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of offering new rental packages so I'd like some feedback from you guys. From the response of some of my renters, I gather that my existing options are not meeting everyone's requirements so I thought I'd come up with a few more options, that is, if there is sufficient interest.

The existing options are the RM50/mth, RM80/mth and casual rental but I gather that there are some gamers who don't have the budget for this. And there are also others who don't have time to play as much as they would like. Hence, the RM30 option and the buy-back option.

The RM30 option gives renters access to older games (for example, Dead Space, FIFA09, Golden Axe, Bioshock, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Resistance Fall of Man, etc). The list will constantly be updated, so there is no worry of being stuck with really old games. This is aimed at gamers who don't mind playing older games and are in no hurry to play the new stuff, maybe because they just bought a PS3 and are still catching up with the catalog. It's also good value for those who are tight on cash, at RM1 per day.

The buy-back option would be for gamers who don't have time to play so they prefer to buy instead of rent. We will buy the game back at a pre-specified price and within specified time limits so effectively it's like a long term rental. However, purchasers do not have to sell it back to us if they prefer not to.

Wokay! It's open to the floor. Please give me your feedback. Let me know what you think, why you'd select a specific option (or options), or whether you'd be interested in any of these options at all.

Thanks!

I chose RM 30 for old games...simply because I just don't have the time to play the game when it first came out especially during the last holiday season (being a working dad) so not having to buy the game that I missed is a plus for me..and If I like the game so much..I just give you a call and top up to buy the game..right?

Ya, that's why I put a "none" option in the list. Because not everyone rents. From my experience and research, less than 30% of overall gamers will rent games.

That's also why I put in the buy-back option. For customers who usually sell off a game when they're done with it or if they don't like it.

Thanks for your feedback! smile.gif

Yes, if you really like a game, I can either sell it to you or get you another copy.

Thanks for your feedback, dude.

I've voted for the buyback option.

I prefer to keep my games but it's reassuring to know that I have the option to sell back the game if the game didn't turn out to be what I expected / worth keeping. smile.gif

Buy-back option will be great honestly. So I'd vote for that.

However the buy-back option should apply to all new, current and old games to really make it work IMO. I know there would be other issues like the game losing its value and what not.

It's not that I don't support Xbox360. It's because there isn't enough demand for Xbox360 game rental and for that matter, Wii also. Because of pirated games!

Having said that, if there is enough requests I'll offer Xbox360 and Wii games for rent, though it will most likely be on a casual gamer basis rather than the monthly membership system.

1) I do agree buy back is the best bet but you have to give us a fixed rate rather than a depreciating rate every month or it would be no better than the other options or even worse.

2) Why not give us a 'gamer' option where it's cheaper than other options BUT we cannot rent movies.

3) as it stands, I like the 'rent old games' options. 8D

ooj, i've been wanting to start renting from you for a while now. but i wanted something that allows me to continue my monthly payment even if its not finished, and only pay when it runs out rather than a monthly process thing. and something that applies both to bluray and the games rental. i would like something like that if its possible.

I'll work something out on the buy-back option. Basically, it won't make sense if I offer a fixed rate and the game is sold back to me 6 months in the future for that price and no one wants it anymore. I need to balance that with an offer that makes it attractive for you to consider selling it back to me too and not just a gimmick. Will be busy working out the details!

Meanwhile, from tomorrow (1 April) to 3rd April, I'm running a promo where hardcore 1-game membership is RM30/mth for the first 3 months! Think of it as the Blackmango Economic Stimulus Package. tongue.gif

I'm also considering introducing a despatch service where the game/movie gets delivered direct to your home or office. There will be a small fee charged for that, maybe RM10-RM20 per month depending on your location. It will save you the time and effort (and petrol!) of meeting up with me to swap your games. Obviously this service will be restricted to certain areas in the Klang Valley and not too far away.

What do you think?

I pick the RM50 option, as what I've stuck to for a while now. However, it doesn't seem that different from the RM30 option anymore 'cause the new games that are worth trying are always rented out until they go out of style (like clothes), by which time they're considered 'older' games.

But I do agree wholeheartedly with the delivery to your doorstep concept. It gets rid of the pain of looking for a time and place that suits both parties. cool2.gif

Well, when I mentioned older games I was referring to stuff that's about 6 months old or so. Basically, games that has lower demand. For example, Bioshock, Dead Space, Resistance 2 are still in great demand so they would still fall under "new" games for the moment. What I'm referring to when I say "old" games are titles like Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Army of Two, Star Wars Force Unleashed etc. There are some great titles that new PS3 owners may want to catch up with.

Anyway, thanks for everyone's feedback so far! This week I'll introduce the RM30/mth option and the despatch service is being worked out at the moment so stay tuned for that. Buy-back option is also being considered!

Please continue giving me your feedback and opinions!

RM50 1-game option: Unlimited games, no time limit
RM80 2-game option: As above but take home 2 titles each time
RM30 1-game option: Unlimited games, no time limit but access is only to older games (released 4 to 5 months back)
Casual rental: RM10 for 1st night, RM2 for subsequent nights
Buy-back option: Buy a game from Blackmango Games and sell back to us at a pre-specified price in the future

I see most of these are viable, hope to see all of these get implemented, but there's no ALL in the poll smile.gif

personally I choose RM30 1 game option, or RM50 1 game option, depends on games still.

HI ben,

Been sometime since i went oversea and thank for freezing my account while i am away... at least the membership dont get wasted smile.gif

Anyway... i almost miss this thread while i am actively renting and buying games from you lol... so here my little opinion.

I my point of view, i dont really mind the RM50 per month, cause i play game actively, and if i am not (due to busy schedule) you are always negotiable to temporary freeze my acc, which is good.

But i got friends who i persuade to rent from you but they really rather buy games than renting, not that they will keep it, but they will re-sell it too, so this might make your option of re-selling back work. I try get some feedback from them, but i think the important part is how much it will cost to re-sell back to you as compare to the market. We shall see how it goes.

THe RM30 package seem fair enough, I really not sure, but i still think i will take it for RM25. RM30 will include postal to our doorstep. But that just my opinion. Seeing how many supporting Rm30 to be reasonable, guess malaysian are still rich afterall smile.gif and good for you ben.

Hope to made some additional opinion here. Meeting you to collect games is painful sometimes, i truely understand, cause with our traffic, is not easy to fix a time or so. But i dont like the idea of postal. So is there anyway to actually access you so we can come and go easily, without having to wait and so especially those who live out of your range? Most of the time, i had to purposely get to a place to get the games instead of being convenience. Any plan to expand your range of distribribution?

Thank for the services so far, it been pleasent....
Hope to see you soon to reactivate my acc, until you update me with the RA3 stock availability, see ya around and good luck in your business smile.gif

Hi Ethan

Thanks for your support and feedback! You may have missed my posting about despatch a couple of replies back. Basically, I'm planning to introduce a despatch service where the game will be sent directly to your house/office and you just return the game to the despatch guy. I haven't worked out the fee yet but most likely it will be between RM10 to RM20 per month additional, depending on the location.

At the point of view of customer,i would prefer the "Buy-Back" option...this is great for both you n ur customer as u're able to resell to next customer with what u buy back...customer should be happy with tat.
