Q1: the sound? it depends. you never really know unless you try. an ibanez S320 is mahogany, perhaps it'll sound good since emg81 is trebly.

Q2: side effect? if properly done, then of course not. although you need to find a way to store the 9V battery.

Actually, the EMG81 is more versatile then you might think. Blues and Jazz pieces in the Neck Position sounds nice and warm.

There shouldn't be any problems, but double check to see if there is room for the 9V battery.

If no room, you'll have to go with a Passive pickup.

i doubt you'll have to dig a hole to fit the battery.. it should fit in your control cavity..

Installation of a pickup is around RM50 for a humbucker.

But do remember, if you're installing an active humbucker, all the rest of your pickups MUST BE actives.... It's a pot issue. You CAN install both actives/passives together, but requires quite abit of innovative wiring work to your switch.

I checked out the SA guitars. I'm sure there's enough room near the tone pots for a battery.

You can get them in JS Music in Jalan Imbi.
Their address is in our Guitar Shop/Jamming studios sticky thread.

an emg81 does fit the ibanez s320. Without drilling in your guitar. I did it myself.
The only thing I did to fit the battery was using the emg potentionmeters and add a extra spacer on the output of the guitar.
