Quite true, when PV80 was released it was 4200. It was at least 2 years till it came down again.

It is all about the money. Current 3k is affordable with 5 years warranty is the best deal. By 2013, we can always look forward to a better, improved model.

My warranty finished 2014. Others should be around 2013. Every year got new model.

If 1 TV is enuff for ur home, So after 2013/2014 will start looking for new. Target will be 50" should be affordable also by that time. 

So its not a loss buying almost obsolete model if the price is right.

Just to indulge you a bit more since your ADD disorder is acting up..poor little boku-chan! The 42PV80 was being sold above 4k when its launched.

For people who bought PV80 recently I'm sure they know very well the PV80 is being replace soon. For the price offer it met their needs, nothing to look like a fool. Even if the PV42X10 launched at 3.7K now, its expected. The PV80 was hovering close to 4k for most part of 2008. Market slowing down and production efficieny improve, it should come down.

You should look at the PV80 predecessors... it cost even more than PV80 when its launched.

Since you are so resourceful and not having any real life, did you find out how many yrs warranty the 42X10 have?

BTW, I bought my PV80 at 2.8k...can your mr liang sell it for 2.8K? Also I got an offer for 50PV80 for 5k, if your mr liang can offer the same, pls let me know as well. My buddy want one.

first of all, many people are anxiously waiting for the 2009 model, and many of them have seen the spec of the so called pv8/80 replacement. The fact is that the new model is not necessarily better than the outgoing model, only minor spec advantage. Still the same resolution. First of all, it is not out yet, so no reviews are available at the moment - we don't know how much the PQ has improved. Secondly, the panel is still have the same resolution. Thirdly, why get old model when can have new? - because they have to wait for the new model to come out!

it is either buy now if you need it or wait forever. you wait for the new model.. when it comes out price is high.. wait for price to come down.. in the next couple of weeks people said the price is going down.. wait some more.. a few months later ppl said can get Full HD for the same price.. wait some more.. then comes year 2010.. new models introduced. wait some more.. wait, wait and wait.

yes, pv80 is going to be obselete. any model also going to be obsolete.

if the pv80's replacement is going to be a Full HD, and can be had for the same price, then the wait is worthwhile and the purchase is justifiable.

To digress a bit from all the talk about the Panny plasmas, can i ask if there is a 50" plasma (nvm if it's hd-ready only at 1366x768) for rm4k?

What do you think about the LG plasma compared with Panny? Is it that much worse off? Money is important to me (budget rm4k strictly) for a 50" plasma.
