Hi all,

I'm looking for feedback on resistance band training and to also talk shop a bit. There seems to be very little info in the Malaysian market about it and in the internet, seems a bit few.

I can't quite use weights because of an old back injury so I look this up as an alternative.

Here's the funny thing.

Resistance is.... resistance, right?
The industry has made it sound like weights are the cause of industry. Many a time, I hear people saying "Oh you have back pain? Don't use weights. Just use bodyweight"

Son, resistance is resistance, no matter what form it is. It's just in varying degrees of resistance.
In buying a resistance band, you're selecting an amount of resistance.

I betcha get my drift here right?

Anyway, here's a cheapo trick. U know those old motorcycle tubes? Slice them into half or something, and use it as your "resistance" band.

Heh, it's not the fact that it's about resistance. It's about the fact that lifting stuff may aggravate my backpain so I have to be very careful when moving heavy stuff, even a few paces.

Although granted that I didn't have someone to help me strengthen my muscles much. Plus I do the occassioinal bit of travelling.

Motorcycle tubes : I'm a gal. We're extremely fanatical about cleanliness and keeping my hands clean. That's why I wouldnt' consider motorcycle tubes. Hehe! But to each his own... wink.gif

Ah, the benefits of copy-and-pasting:

Try Gyminthepocket.

I bought the green one, which has the hardest resistance. It works like a charm when doing stretching exercises or when you're on the road with no access to a gym and you would like to get some exercise done.

You can find it at any Fitness Concept stores. They retail from RM60 to about RM90 IIRC.

It only produces 16-59LBS of resistance. That......quite little isn't it?
