Need time to get used to the pen feeling. It's a bit different from actually drawing it on paper. Its like drawing on a piece of glass with normal pen.

My suggestion, go buy an ink pen and scan then colour with mouse (that's what I did). Cause no matter what it's still gonna cost u extra limbs. Unless u decide to go full pro or u r really interest in digital art, then investing in one may be helpful.

that's why people dont use photoshop to ink anymore. it's hard and tedious. well, at least for me it is.

i recommend manga studio debut 3.0.

brilliant inking, be it felt tip pen, brush or hard tip. it's vector based, meaning u can still adjust the lines after each stroke. then u can rasterize it to export as jpg.

here's an example:

this was done in about 10 minutes.

SAI? what's that?

if u're talking about adobe illustrator, it's more geared towards graphics and visual design. sure, it's still vector based, but manga studio geared all its features for manga/comic productions. it's nothing AI couldnt do. but since it's tuned for manga/comic, a lot of its features have been simplified to do just that.

....there's a way to get around the 30 days limit, but cant discuss it here tho. and, in the end it's pretty much tedious even after it's done. anyway, sai is a good program to, currently my no 1 choice for digital sketches. (sai>oc>painter>ms paint>ps)

best thing bout sai - how it detect pressure sensitivity. (for digital inking, quality of lines can be archived quite easily, but im one of those that's lazy to ink tho...tongue.gif)
