Bought the 'bomber' jacket from FOS Subang Parade in 2008 before my trip to Tokyo in Feb (the same year). It's super cheap at RM150 and it's from Ecko(Red). I like the jacket as it's not colourful (it's dark brown with furry sides for the hood. Sleeve & hood removeable via zipper if needed).

Luckily in Tokyo at that time - they all wore the same style of jacket. Thought I was gonna be outdated. Phew. Hehe. And it kept me warm the whole time.

I will never ever go to Wintertime & UT to buy winter jacket - so ugly and expensive. Wonder where they get their stocks from.

Hrm, for your winter jacket, what material?

Mine is not down feather, just normal dunno what it's called. I put washing machine n then dry accordingly.

Then put in box with those silica gel packs so nothing will grow on it.

I dun use long john coz my body can tahan cold.

Hi guys, I am making a trip to Japan coming winter and part of my trip include going to Nikko which will be filled with snow. As this is my first time seeing snow, I didn't really know what to wear especially for shoe. I have no intention to bring along an extra pair of boots just for the snow as it will make my luggage heavier.

My Quesrtion here, is snow boot a necessity?

You can actually get some kind of special rain waterproof cover for your shoes if not mistaken if you do not wish to waste your money on a pair of snow boots.

Something like this:

Just make sure you wear insulated socks.

Has anyone ever bought thermal wear from Winter Time, UT or Jusco?  Are they sufficient to sustain winter coldness?
*
I've never worn thermal wear before but if the place that you plan to go is windy, then I suggest you should get a really good winter jacket.

If the place is not as windy, then you wouldn't feel that cold.

for the ladies... anyone here ever wear skirt during autumn/winter? how thick will your tights be if u were wearing one? wanna try wearing sheer tights during winter... haha.
*
Hi,

I always always wear skirt during winter trips. I've tried medium and thick leggings before. Thick one for me is the one i got from MNG. The medium one is half the thickness of MNG ones. For me, the medium one - cannot really tahan much of the cold if it's 5c and below but at least it's doable. The thick ones - no prob at all.

Sheer tights, if your tights have those 'keep warm' material in it, then why not but don't say we never advise you to bring/wear proper clothing. Anything below 8c - you'd have to be able to keep yourself warm coz you're out the whole day and what not.

Anyone wear converse shoes during winter before? TT
I don't know what shoes I should wear.
I m goin to Seoul on January.. Isit very cold?
*
I wear my adidas sneakers (similar to converse sneakers). But the insides of my shoes have faux fur. It does feel abit cold but i think if it's normal one, it might be a little cold and maybe will get a little bit wet at your toes. Do bring a pair of extra socks when you're out. Dry them out on the heated floor overnight and you'll be good to go! But when you walk around, you'll create a warm flow already, so dun worry.

Seoul is EXTREMELY cold. It's so much colder than Tokyo if you compare these 2 places. However, it's not as dry as Tokyo winter. Altho you still need heavy creams to apply on your body to prevent skin from getting too dry or skin splitting (this is extremely painful).

January will be the coldest month of the year for any northern countries which has winter.

Sometimes the forecast is just forecast, you should really see last year january's weather. It shouldn't defer more than 5c IMO unless of course the weather has gone nuts.

I don't know for you but for me (i'm a gal who can tahan cold weather but my skin will be super super dry). Get a good down feather/synthetic bomber jacket. You can get one from Uniqlo - stylo and not too expensive, down feather and best of all super light and can lipat until very compact). You also need long sleeve shirts (t-shirt which is long sleeved) and also jumper if you want. Normal jeans/work pants will be ok. Usually only upper body can't tahan that cold of a weather.

I also suggest you to bring more socks coz, even tho it's cold and you're wearing leather/canvas shoes, your socks at the toe part will be a little wet - dunno why.... but you can let it dry overnight if you don't want to bring too many. Also to sleep, you should wear long pants + jumper with hoodie incase, your blanket is not warm enough. Altho i do warn that alot of the mattresses in seoul are electrical - can heat up, you might get heat bumps (like pimples but not really) if you sleep on that warm of surface. It happened to me and it only went away after 3 weeks. But hor, for me, i sweat when i sleep with winter blankets + heated mattress. Alot of the time i sleep without blankets even in winter if it's moderately heated.

Hope this helps!

However, i think heat packs never work for me. I'd rather keep my hands (with gloves) in my bomber jacket's pocket. Now that's what I call warm hands. tongue.gif
