Not really possible. They're pre-loaded with OS.

Added on April 14, 2009, 4:14 amGive me any suggestion to do this ..HELP ME BRO

The simplest way is to reformat and install with XP and see if it works. If it doesn't, format again and switch to Vista. The most basic hardware (motherboard, hdd, graphic card,CPU) will work. The speculated thing that won't work can be webcam, touchpad without any other function like scrolling and other peripheral.

PC Fair promotional bundle model mah. That's why got graphics card, 4Gb ram and most important 3 years warranty (this alone cost RM198 leh). So PC Fair over, no more ad for this model lor.

The other reason is that the margin of this model is quite low. So, Acer stopped the advertisement. Just my guess. smile.gif

Hi Mr.LKM, this is an out of topic question, but please help. I understand that you use a Philips ToUcam Pro II (CCD). I just bought a Philip SPC900NC/00 from Davis, and this webcam is almost the same as yours. I just could not understand when this webcam is touted as one of the sharpest webcam from Philips, why when I used it on my Acer 4730ZG and my Windows XP desktop, the video image quality is so blurred and chunky. My cap ayam 1.3MP webcam is even better. Do you use the automatic settings or manual? If manual, could you please tell me your recommended settings? Which program did you use to take the video? Vlounge? I find it very temperamental. Thanks

Obviously, your image isn't well focus. Just turn around the lens and find the optimal position. Good luck! Vlounge is good enough. For astrophotography usage, I use k3ccd tool to take the image.

I tried to play with the settings, but still very blurred. Maybe this webcam is World Best for close shooting, but it does not serve my purpose of taking normal videos on my laptop. Dissapointed...
How can I tell? Hard Disk keeps running?

Bro, you have to turn the physical lens. You don't have to play with the settings to get sharp image. The problem is that your image is not well focused. The only way to fix it is to turn around the lens and find the perfect focal length. It ranges from a few centimeters to infinity. So, the webcam actually covers quite a long range but not limited to close-up.

Thanks Mr.LKM for your reply. Ya I know how to change the focus by turning the physical lens. I'm dissapointed because the image quality is just so-so compared to my cap ayam 1.3MP webcam. Moreover, the focus is ONLY equally good as my cap ayam webcam when I use the Philips SPC900NC webcam with the Vlounge software. Other webcam softwares like Cyberlink Power Director, webcammax, K3CCD and VH Multicam Studio, the quality of the image captured by Philips SPC900NC is blurred and bad and this rules out the possibilty of using the Philips SPC900NC webcam for a picture in picture video shooting with other webcams. There is no such problem with the laptop's built-in Acer Crystal Eye webcam and also my Cap Ayam 1.3MP webcam which I bought for RM50+ in 2006. I think the problem lies with the Vista Driver.

For a webcam that is touted to be the World's Best when I bought it at lelong.com for a clearance price of RM153, it is dissapointing.

But it always seems like the later you buy a new laptop, the better the specs will be. If anyone couldn't get this, just wait for an even better deal. My 2cents tongue.gif

But hey, Mr.LKM is selling ler....check it out http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...0#entry24653507

Thanks for spreading the words. biggrin.gif

Hmm... You may be right about the driver problem. By the way, I haven't opened mine from the box which is still mint in condition. sweat.gif Did you adjust the resolution to the highest?
