agreed. the difference is on the UI and the camera only

I bet the 12mp still can't beat SLR camera
*
It also have a 7.2Mbps 3G connection.. using Li-Po baterry... WIFI with DLNA(maybe hot in a few years of digital edge)... If you notice it comes with 2 kind of flash. Xenon for image and LED for video(thier way make the best of both world)... It all sounds better.. but the price will roll them all back.. so we can all just sit back, relax and Tube-On.. nod.gif

glad to hear that!
I guessed so to but wasn't sure tongue.gif Now I'm excited for tomorrow when I'll finally be a proud Tube owner  rclxm9.gif

By the way I came across this application and the website says it works on the Tube, it's kind of like a combination of skype, msn, googletalk, yahoo messenger, etc. that you can use over internet data plans or Wifi (can even auto connect for you), looks good but of course I haven't tested it out, thought that I'd share with you guys  smile.gif
http://www.fring.com/

---

oh, another thing, my dad's Tube has this weird problem.. at night the battery shows 6 bars and to save battery he switches the phone off but in the morning when he switches the phone on again the battery indicator will reduce to half ie. 3 bars.  rclxub.gif  Anyone else encounter this?
*
Fring is know to be a tubian must already.. along with slick too..

it's still unsure how Tube manage the power... that day i try playing speaker mp3.. the bat drop by 1 or 2 bar immediately.. but when i stop the song.. it raises back. i think it's taking prediction consumption istead of actual remaining juice.. as previous nokias have problem giving accurate and consistant indication (bat runs out faster when low bar)

By the way practicing off and on phone overnight is not recommended anymore.. as it uses more power to start up than having standby whole night.. If you want to get the most out of it.. switch to offline, lock the screen and leave it.. should uses minimal bat..

do u use any special software to watch youtube on your tube? or the existing software enough?
*
Just go youtube site with the build in browser.. it will activate the mobile player and you can play full screen by clicking on the player.. no need to install anything..

the installed version youtube can play also.. but i prefer the browser... the navi in the installed client not so nice..

yup.no space for extra buttons.IMHO, i really think they shouldn't put this 5800 under XpressMusic.
*
just use the remote they give.. if you really need to control your songs... i my self just shuffle repeat them.. most of the time i just play or pause... those button are quite useless ... you probably press them less than the 1-9 keys on ur phone... no need to waste 50 * 650 pixel of screen for those...

Added on April 2, 2009, 8:28 amis there a new firmware update after the V20 ?
*
just use the flat profile (Default) it should provide no reproducing process on the audio. The LOUD setting should be off too to safe juice... actually this is the first player device i have that sounds better when the LOUD is off.. it sounds more natural.. unlike the N73 sounds like an old school radio player when LOUD is off..

will do some shopping and scouting on that, thanks for the advise ~~
*
Get the IS.. it's abit rubberize and not that oily compare to naked... if you'd like to preserve the overall shiny impression... otherwise you can use silicon case... but i do leave the front sp using the conventional 1.. as it glide better..

Sorry just get the phone and trying to explore.

Just do it you don't loss anything on a brand new phone... unless u've already transfer contacts and stuff into it.. back it up... better now than later

I missed it . I didn't do the soft reset and i have transferred all the contacts. Any advice ?
How should i backup the SMS and my contacts.
thanks
*
go to apps->filemanagement->backup->check what u need to backup.. preferbly all cause u can choose what to restore later... then u can hav it schedule or not.. then just hit backup

when u done reset... come back and hit restore.. thats it..

Oh and some note... if you are someone like me that likes to keep sent sms, remember to configure ur max sms sent to 999 first.. before u restore.. else it might be erase and left the latest 20.. and don't go format ur memory card before u restore.. yes it's backup into ur memory card.

Is there a type of mp3 that's unplayable for tube?

It's like 30% of my songs are unplayable although they're mp3.

When i try to play them there's either an error shown or it'll jump to the previous menu.
*
Are they properly named.. the file name.. no funny funny character?
They may have a mp3 extension but could be other audio format.. but it still works because ur pc can decode it.. it may not work on ur phone if it's not something it can decode...

sometime ago i downloaded some mp3 that .. its actually wma... but they still works in pc.. won't work on my old mp3 player thou..

I am sooooooooo slowpoke.

But did you guys realize that in The Dark Knight, the phone that Lucius Fox (played by Morgan Freeman) gave to Bruce Wayne was the Nokia 5800 a.k.a the Tube. He was explaining about the sonar technology... here is the part of the movie.

(look closely at 0:04 you will see the XpressMusic dropdown menu in Red!)

Nah screenie for you..  tongue.gif
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

But wait, you guys will probably think that doesn't look like the tube.... it has a silver lining around it and it looks more futuristic.

Well surprise surprise, the tube in the Dark Knight movie was a prototype.. and in fact, earlier TV Commercials of the tube is using the earlier prototype.. lemme show you one here..

Now that pretty much explains why there is a Dark Knight trailer that comes with the tube...
So how about that? Even Bruce Wayne a.k.a Batman uses the Tube  whistling.gif
*
Which is probably why every package of 5800 box have the Dark Knight clip in the memory card!

=.= tube is not resistive i think... read some review somewhere.. it's capacitive
*
Capacitive doesn't support stylus, gloves and even fingernails.. so our tube is resistive.. theres a reason why they use resistive.. so nokia can show off the hand writting recognition (even in chinese) and inovative plectrum input method.. something iphone not having.. it could be that it's cheaper too.. but i'm not sure of that..

what i like about resistive is that i can rest my finger on it or sometimes gently clean the finger print without pressing every buttons.. capacitive you have to lift off your finger..
durable wise capacitive is better thou...

Duno why nokia is taking so long to release a new firmware for 5800...already a month since v20 is released...any1 knows how fast or slow firmware of phone like e71 are released??
*
They need to get approval by the local service provider too if i'm not mistaken.. I'd rather they release a stable one that last longer .. than having to flash every 2 week..

Which way do you guys prefer? the build in Email of 5800 with IMAP configuration on Gmail. Or the Gmail S60 Client that runs on Java?

actually typing isn't that hard.. you don't really have to press the right one.. you just have to make sure you release on the right one.. full/mini qwerty.. i always press s and release from a when i need to get an a.. too tight there while trying to hold the tube.. i got moderate big palm here..

But on number pad or T9 it's different.. it take which one you press.. not which one you release..

perhaps some one can make advantage of that to practice typing in full/mini qwerty.. sweet touch by s60v5
