Wanna restart this thread again, seems like it's been dead for awhile. UTeM has official facebook, so for those who want to know more info can just search our name there.

Yes UTeM provides Master courses, latest is for FKP (manufacturing). I heard they are doing the classes at night to allow for those working to continue Masters full time. So you can finish your masters with minimum period while still continueing to work, a great advantage to those professionals working in Melaka. Don't forget that Najib will give you RM10k if you continue masters, meaning you just need to fork out extra about RM3k to get a full fledged masters. This applies to other IPTA as well.

BEM accreditation for local u you do not have to worry. As its a gov institute, unless you are really really unlucky, you will get accreditation. The course is not simply because there are no first batch graduates for the program yet, that's why cannot simply give accred.

I'm not sure its that big a deal whether the uni has ties overseas or whatnot. But I do have many seniors who went to do Masters at other local universities like UPM and UTM.

Added on March 14, 2010, 10:54 pmNo UTeM does not offer any twinning programmes. Please refer to the long list of private universities which will gladly relieve you of your money for that opportunity.

update:
start from next semester:
1. 60%coursework-40% final exam mode will be change to 0-40%(max)coursework 60(min)-100%final exam. meaning that the learning will be more focusing on theory. this major switch makes the learning culture similar to APEX university USM, research univerisity UTM, UKM and UPM.
[ probably will be change to 60% final exam + 20% test(coursework) + 20% from assignment(coursework)/report(coursework)/etc.(coursework) which is equivalent to total 100% .meaning that total marks awarded for test and final exam will be up to 80% or more than 80% ]

reason: to secure the accreditation from EAC/BEM/IEM under Washington Accord and make sure UTeM's graduates are marketable http://www.washingtonaccord.org/Washington-Accord/

2.big change on industrial displacement (latihan industri-LI)
4months of industrial displacement will be held on semester holidays.no more LI during 6th semester.
this changes only applicable for 1st year student and the coming intakes.for 2nd,3rd and 4th year students, still sticks to the old policy.

*The above changes only applicable to UTeM's ENGINEERING COURSES.

update:
utem's senate drops the bombshell:-

start from next semester:
1. utem will not using"Practice and Application Oriented-PAO" teaching and learning method anymore.60%coursework-40% final exam mode will be change to 40%coursework-60% final exam.meaning that the learning will be more focusing on theory(however, still need to do same amount of report but lower percentage of marks will be awarded). the exam and test will contributes approx. 70-80%marks for each subject(test:10-20% ; final exam:60%)------this major changes makes the learning in utem pretty much same like other conventional universities such as utm,um, and usm style.
reason: to secure the accreditation from EAC/BEM/IEM under Washington Accord  http://www.washingtonaccord.org/Washington-Accord/
2.compulsory additional 2 months for industrial displacement (latihan industri)
6months of industrial displacement will be held on 6th semester and additional 2 months will be held during holidays.

Industrial Training will be shortened to 10-12 weeks, so 3 months max. TO be carried out during holidays. Heard from Prof Marizan himself. But subject to Senate approval still (apparently).
