Aside from this, supporting the event will ensure our community will have future events to look forward to. DO not take this for granted as WGT is no longer. This also means this is probably your last major tournament unless something else happens. (WCG takes MW)

These are one of the very few companies that actually look for our community for support and the first thing we SHOULD NOT do is let them down.

Okay, long story short for Promod tourney:

Reminder #1) registration for Promod tourney will be tomorrow COMPLETELY SEPERATE from PAM4; you NEED to reregister even if you are going to be playing with the same team lineup as the PAM4 tourney

Reminder #2) Draws for the tournaments are completely random due to certain factors (of which I am not at the liberty to question or debate). As an accomodation to the team leaders this will be done with the participation and presence of all team leaders for the Promod tourney. (i.e. be on the lookout for this and team leaders stick around, etc)

Announcement #1) The tourney absolutely needs to wrap up by 5pm. I'm sure the participants for PAM4 who stayed on till the Finals know how long that took... so we need your cooperation on this following special considerations to help facilitate us on this:

a) PLEASE help us make the draws fast. That means if I have to look for team leaders while the draws are taking place, I will personally hunt you down with a basketball bat (yes) after the tournament is over

b) There will be -no breaks- in between maps. This includes toilet breaks, so prepare yourself (physically, and mentally for the nicotine addicts (wait, no I didn't say that)) to sit through a potentially 12-12, 12-12, 12-12 game while holding it all in.

Added on April 12, 2009, 12:34 amAnd now a little glimpse into my soap opera. (disregard this anyway, it's not related to the Promod tourney and most people have better things to do with their time!)

I know that the draws for PAM4, done only in the presence of one other marshal, looks a bit suspicious, especially in the light that the quarter finals (2nd round) ended up with teams from the same tag facing each other including singaporean teams facing each other off that early. (This is alongside my affiliation with SWL, who ended up as champions)

I would like to reassure that the draws were as random as I could make them, without going into the details. I know that in the past all events run by our community had teams seeded as to not face each other early on. Unfortunately, even though we were consulted as to the rulesets for the tourney, it ultimately isn't -our- event. I'm sorry if this causes bad blood between me and members of the community but as a professionally hired head marshal, I absolutely have to carry out what's asked of me (while giving feedback, within reason)

Also as to personal affiliations between me and SWL, or the marshals under me and ESP, I'd also like to point out that we cannot and will not afford to be biased on these counts:

1) We're hired professionally for this. Friends is friends, work is work.

2) It's a big event, with huge media coverage. I will never allow the CoD4 related events to become a mockery of itself to the public eye with goofball antics/personal favors/leniency based on familiarity.

3) Prior to the tournament the marshals including myself literally worked our ass off for more than 12 hours a day helping set up this event. (In fact I'll most likely be sporting a crutch for the Promod tourney and I'm not exaggerating) We're not about to make a mockery of all our previous sweat and blood invested into the event. We basically have a personal stake in making sure the event doesn't look like a joke.

This tournament is the first time in the competitive Malaysian CoD4 scene I personally marshaled for SWL and was handing out -more- reminders/warnings than I have for other teams in previous competitions. I'm sick of playing the petty 'oh, i can't, because people might say i'm biased' shit-flinging rumor-mongering game.

I hope you guys can understand my point of view here. I'm really cut about what happened with the random draws, and after all is said and done I guess all I can do is apologize. Maybe I could have been more random? Maybe I should have seeded instead of drawing randomly, then justified my actions after the fact?

The draws for Promod will be done as such:
16 playing cards, team leaders draw a card, team is written down directly into brackets in the slot that has the corresponding value. This will be done in the presence of all other team leaders.

In the case of a non-full 16 signup, cards will be removed from the stack beforehand so that we're limited to 1 empty slot per pair (to avoid a 2nd round/quarter finals walkover)
