Yeah, manager should go down to the field and train with the players.

QUOTE(Angel of Deth @ Mar 24 2009, 10:08 PM) I think manager should train with their players too, manager need to have strong chemistry with the players.. Far as I know managers do attend training sessions to oversee things. After all he has to make his team selection and their performance in training does influence this. Managers may be able to double-up as head coaches in smaller leagues but if you are in charge of a big Premiership sides competing on four fronts each season, you simply don't have the time. When was the last time, you heard of a player/manager in the Premiership? Rafa Benitez for example even goes to the extent of watching videos to study the movements of each player with the aid of a computer. It has become a really technical and methodical job. In summary, while I agree that managers should attend training sessions, I simply don't think they have the time to delve deeply into the matters of coaching as well, unless of course you're a really small outft in a small league as I mentioned before. |

BPL, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga their manager also act like the head coach right? i always see picture of AW, SAF, Rafa, Mourinho, Capello train alongside their players. Hmm seems that I got it a little wrong then. The manager of the club is also the head coach and under him are coaches who specialise in different areas i.e. Goalkeeping coach, fitness coach, first team coach, reserve team coach, etc. Yes I know that managers often join their players on the pitch as they also need to select the players for the games based on their performance in training.

They have Sporting Director (team manager) and Head Coach to manage the team on the pitch and to sustain the performance of the team. Things are a bit different from England there But it doesn't matter if the team tactics are decided by the team manager or head coach, if the players at their disposals still fail in fitness tests time and time again, any tactic won't bring the team to glory right? IMHO, our current crop of players are just not good enough. Their fitness are crap. Enough said. |
