1) Is there any transfer fee for Malaysian football players? And what is the record transfer fee?
2) What is the highest paid salary Malaysian football player?
3) Do Malaysian football players get fined for yellow/red card(s) they received? (Players will be fined in EPL, La Liga.. correct me if I am wrong)
4) What is the price of a ticket to watch a football team in Malaysia in action?

Thanks.

1. Yes. there is. but due to lack of transfer budget for each team, most of the teams choose to sign players when their contract ended. so they do not have to pay any transfer fee for the players. i would say this is a culture in malaysia football.

2. Urm. i dunt have a proven fact on this matter. but i guess the highest paid salary would be in range of 15-20k (local player) and 30-40k (import player - previously).

3. Yes, but with certain condition. they will get fined if the committed fouls considered as dangerous as defined by FAM.

4. The price of a ticket is depend on each venue and competition. But on average, the ticket price for local stadiums is around RM5-10 (open air) and RM 10-20 (under roof).

Hope the answers can help u get a clearer picture on Malaysia local football. whistling.gif

For local player is Azman Adnan when he moved from KL to Selangor. How much? MYR 1 million

For foreign player is Tony Cotte from West Ham to Selangor for about 750,000 pound sterling.

2) What is the highest paid salary Malaysian football player?
This is subjective. No body know. But there is rumours Akmal earning 24k per month while with Kedah. To tell the truth, football in Malaysia you can earn big money if you good enough.

3) Do Malaysian football players get fined for yellow/red card(s) they received? (Players will be fined in EPL, La Liga.. correct me if I am wrong)
YES

4) What is the price of a ticket to watch a football team in Malaysia in action?
Up to stadium management. It can be as low as RM5 to RM20 depend on seating.

Yup, but it also depends a lot on whether the club you're playing for has well-managed funds. Most of the players go unpaid for many months!

I used to follow the local football quite vigorously back in the semi pro days. Was a Johor fan, but since i lived in KL, i ended following my cousins and friends to Merdeka stadium watching either Selangor or KL play. The seats opposite and around the grand stand were concrete slabs so tickets were cheap. I remember that Azman Adnan fella, we used to call him Kerbau, because he just bulldozed his way through any defense lol. Im quite surprised that his transfer fee was that high, considering players were earning peanuts back then. Maybe Selangor and KL were paying their star players at acceptable rates but majority of the local players, even some of the imported foreign players were paid peanuts. This was the major problem back then and imo was the catalyst that led to the league getting decimated with match fixing scandals. That was when i and pretty much everyone else i knew who were following local football, entirely given up on the scene. Some might disagree, but local football, imo, has never been the same ever since.

Does this include special commissions paid?

Declared or undeclared? They have a basic salary and they earn commission based on how many goals they can sell.

I figured that if they do the amount would depend on whether or not the players wants to "settle" or not.

Given the type of crap we see on the pitch, I figured it's only fair they pay fans to fill the seats and not the other way around.

Like some of you, I was a fan of Selangor during the semi-pro days. Used to collect newspaper clippings, etc. It's absolutley embarrasing that the standard of the league has dropped to much even though we turned pro! Hard to imagine that a player who trains part-time while working for Maybank can play better than a full professional who trains regularly. They should feature this on "Ripley's believe it or not".

Because a good deal of their tax revenues comes from them, AND beer companies like Carlsberg and GAB.

This is where "they" are perceived to be hypocritical. While it's socially and politically correct to ban negative elements from the mainstream media, there is a financial element to consider and as we know, our values tend to get more flexible at the sight of more mulah.

Hmm... it's not just Malaysian football, but worldwide sports actually, decided to ban alcohol & cigarette products from advertising in sports. If U remembered Marlboro also used to sponsor F1 teams, & their logo had to be covered (during the early days).

The reason being sports is supposed to be part of healthy lifestyle & cigarettes (or smoking) and drinking is not part of healthy lifestyle.

I don't think it's that they can't. It's more like they don't want to. I mean what is the point in sponsoring millions of ringgit, when you can't advertise? Which golf tournament is Carlsberg the main sponsor for? Far as I know, they are co-sponsors of the "Maybank Malaysian Open". Cig and alcohol companies would rather splurge on on-ground events like rave parties and concerts. They may not be able to advertise on mainstream media, but they will ensure that they do have a ground presence e.g. buntings, flaglines, sales booths, etc.

agree with tenno. as far as i know, it is sum sort of directive or advice from the world sports body to disallow cigs/alcohol from sports tournament. or at least cigarettes coz they are risk factors to various health disease. dunhill did offered to extend the sponsorship but was declined by fam. do inform me if there are still cigarettes company sponsoring sports programme.
