Hi guys,

I'm planning to change my new tyre with profile 50 from 45 but this is only apply to both of my rear wheels only. Currently, I'm using the tyres of 215/45/17 on my Waja's wheels. I also using the adjustable suspension to make it lower a bit but if i do change the profile, i'll jack it up a bit.

Current wheels : Front -> 215/45/17
Rear -> 215/45/17

Future wheels : Front -> 215/45/17
Rear -> 215/50/17

Do you guys know what is the advantages and the cons if i'm proceed with this? Do the back passenger will feel abit comfort after changing the tyre profile? Please share with me as I need an advice from u guys alot on this issue.

why would u wanna do that ? doesnt this makes tyre rotation for every 5k difficult ?

about the front tyre has lower profile with the same rim size front & back , doesnt this makes the front tyre turns faster than the back tyre rotation overall ?

IMHO, your car will look weird because the overall size of the rear tyre will be bigger. Usually people with different profile tyres are using different rim size at the rear.

If you're having it in the rear, that's fine but it'll definitely look weird and forget about tyre rotation smile.gif 215/45/R17 is the best you can go because if you put 215/50/R17 in front, it'll probably hit the fenders (especially if your car is lowered).

I don't think TS is thinking on rotating any longer.

for me waja handling is best with standard configuration. once you play around with tyres and suspensions the handling will mess-up and you'll have uneven wear of the tyres too.

why thinking of comfort for the rear passenger when you are using 17"? I don't think using different tyre profile brings much improvement, and don't forget the not-so-easy setup of it.

My previous Waja was with 16" rims, ES100 and HWL adjustables, no problems at all and handling improved even more smile.gif

actually, i did thinking about this after i noticed both of my rear wheels are 'botak' already.. so, i'm planning to change them with the higher profile tyres as i just heard a rumour saying that.. higher profile give us more comfort.. icon_rolleyes.gif anyway, is it that 5mm (50mm-45mm), really give give me an obvious look to my car later? is the different is so huge? blink.gif
about the tyre turns faster, at the moment i didn't think about that yet.. wink.gif

it's due to the budget constraint issue.. if i change the rim wheels it will cost me more.. if i'm only changing those two tyres.. it will cost me less.. rclxms.gif

Ive heard that you can induce or reduce oversteer and understeer on FF/FR cars by changing the tyre width on the front and back..any opinions on this?I think it was wider on the rear for FF for understeer and wider on the front for FF to reduce oversteer.Im not sure about this,just askin ur opinions.

for drag race, the fronts will be thicker. Not the rears.

fyi, from wat i read about the 45 or 50 is not measured in mm but instead the percentage of the width of your tyre...

front n rear weight balance... which in turn relates to amount of traction available when u hard brake into corners and so on....

not to mention, different sets of tyres gives different handling characteristics... mix all of them together n u'll get a unpredictable handling...

Even in my user manual also states don't use different tyre size because it may confuse the ABS system.
