Hi guys, i have one question that i'd like to ask those who ady convert their engine to turbo.. notworthy.gif .please help..

I noticed that my kancil tyres (both front) "makan" alot after just ONE month I convert the engine. FYI, I just bought the tyres brand new (BRAND : GOOD YEAR DUCARO) less than 6 months ago (i think in Feb or March 09), then i converted my kancil 660 engine to l5 (EFRL) in May.. I noticed that now, the thread maybe around 20% left!.. really scares me.. 100% to 20% in less than a year! I did experienced a near-death situation during a rainy day few days ago. sweat.gif my car skidded wildly, fortunately i was still in control tat time.. It was until then i checked my tyres and noticed that the thread is almost worn out..

My question is, is it normal the tyres gone "makan" so fast like that when using turbo engines? I mean, i did once in a while push the pedal abit (just to feel the adrenaline rush.. tongue.gif )..not all the time i'm driving it. or is it becos I got a bad batch of tyres/faulty tyres from goodyear/got conned by the shop? cos AFAIK, tyres dont normally worn out that fast..

btw the balancing and alignment still ok.. just that the tyres worn so fast..

did u change ur spring or absorber??if u have changed either 1 then u will need 2 do alignment..previously i also had similar issue but i did not change engine...i changed my absorber..after changing my absorber i notice my front tyres outer thread is wearing extremely...after dat oni i noe dat after changing absorber or spring....u will need 2 do alignment...

Hi tommy, YES... The shop which converted my engine change both the original absorber and springs to the halfcut ones.. just fyi, the front tyres look abit "terkepak"/toed out.. I dont think its an issue at first since the alignment and balancing looks ok (car can go straight with no hands on steering), but now that u've mentioned it (and experienced it), i guess i shud do wheel alignemt.. sigh.. seems that i found it the hard way.. cry.gif

anyway guys, thanks so much for ur help. really appreciate it. notworthy.gif

haha...no problem dude...small matter...just sharing my experience...anyway...if u wan save money then when u do alignment...u can take ur rear wheels put at da front n da rear wheels go 2 da back...front grip is more important for FF cars..hehe...

Aiyah.. in my case cannot lor.. becos my rear tyre is abit "oversized".. hehe.. using 175 tyres instead of 165 at the back.. tongue.gif

everybody known that removing absorber/tie rod end/lower arm from knuckle need wheel alignment back after installation.

Now i know.. huhu.. sweat.gif but then again, at first i thought dun have to do alignment since the alignment looks ok after changing the abs/springs.. but now i guess doesnt matter what, have to do alignment jugak.. aiya, want to save some money from doing alignment but instead i lose more just to change the tyres.. huhu..
