Hi all
First time on Plasma. Just acquire the panasonic 42PV80 Plasma. Nothing fancy, just normal DVD, some HD movie from my harddisk, and Wii and of course Astro.
I read something like run-in or break in and what not.
Is there a thread or discussion or FAQ for this? Otherwise please list out the checkpoint or suggested action.
Thanks!

QUOTE(fourzee @ Mar 18 2009, 01:14 PM) If Your Plasma suffers a Break in then you are in trouble .. better make a police report.. haha thats good.. Anyway...for me....I just use it like normal TV....so far so probs...but if you are critical.....the first month is the most important...cut down on the contrast abit...no need to on full brightness,...avoid black pillar bars from 4:3 ratio...if possible....use a grey colored pillar instead of black... One thing is...be careful when you clean the glass....mine scratch oledi...and tell your kids that the plasma is not a coloring board. If you put it on a table, make sure the mounting is secured properly.

What run in break in.. Nearly everyone doesn't think about it all in the past. Its there and you watch as is. Last time, most family will think of replacing when 2 things may happen, very old or beyond repair. I think most would upgrade within 5 years. Its funny to read about TV break in or run in...hehehe! I may be particular or believe in hifi break in period but for TV?.. just use as is.. considering you've made the right choice of model, brand and within budget.

I am it a habit to unplug my HT main power socket from the wall's before bed everynite. But I never nor ever bother to detach the antenna socket from astro decoder. Is this a major concern or vulnerable to thunder?? p/s enlighten me, TQ.

Getting Started

|
The 2 kaki as the base of the mounting is not pure metal. Its not really a strong material.
The same material that holds the laptops monitors to its body.
I had once dropped my laptop and the material just broke like a chalk.

Hwoarang45,
I violated almost most of the your not to do list. I'm using China cheapo DVD for last 2 yrs. Serve me well.
So far I got a WD book 500gb HDD, planning to buy another mini portable 500gb to get some down load HD movie and then WD HDMI box.

Of course la bro! Not that noob la! Exactly the point on cheapo china DVD, rosak throw. Infact even Philips DVD also now about RM150...and sometime cheaper at hypermart! I doubt I ever need upscaling DVD, since all my DVD are ahem type! Good enough for me. But I do want to get the WD HDMI box...
