Err..other than the speediest processor for a PDA and relatively affordable price, why do you have interest in this one? I have test it, one thing for sure, the UI are not up to good. though being winmo that will always be capable to be modify..

Next is the glide tech..positively not as sharp or as smooth as the touchflo.

i also P565 user for few months, really hard to negative point on this phone, just the screen size 2.8' cant satisfied me. seems like the P565 user is low profile or maybe the phone itself no issue so not need to discuss hehe

lol, my guess is not everyone who bought it is on LYN. i don't noe why, but lotsa the people around me are staying away from Asus stuff. I actually find their PDAs quite good. Mayb not that nice on the design area, but functionality and spec wise thumbup.gif

Yea, not many know that Asus make good PDAs. Everyone's all with the thinking that only HTC makes good gadgets.

So true, 2 out of 3 of my PDAs are Asus!! rclxms.gif

I`ve used HTC before such as teh TyTN, P3600i and TyTN2 for a few days due to family and friends, and I fee that Asus is better.

More stable feel, higher performance in some models and the built quality is superb

Only thing missing is support. HTC's support is damn huge. can say 90% of PDA users are using HTCs. Even myself.

They are actually pretty good for a PDA. Can't really compare PDA cameras with other mobile phones. It's like comparing a rabbit and a horse.

If I am not mistake, a sales person quoted me at RM1899 in Digital Mall. PDA prices go down very fast.

I bought this device few days back after some bad experience with HTC Diamond.
So far, I'm very happy with it, especially the multimedia performance.. really no lagging.
Web browsing with IE was very smooth as well. 2.8" for me is still ok, as i don't like to keep something too bulky in my pocket.
In fact, I quite like the simple and sylish design, with only the mini USB port as the only port (for recharging, headphones, connect to PC).
For me, too many 'holes' on your device doesn't seem very nice.
The speaker, though, loud enough and I like the bass coming out from it.
I used quite alot of GPS and it lasted more than 1 day for me.
Certainly seems like good value for my money.
..the speedy processor does make a difference.

I have been doing some web browsing (watching some MTV on Youtube) at one-U on it's free wifi, the battery life did drop from 98% to 82% after 2 hours.

I have to mention that I asked the seller to install Spb Mobile Shell 3.0 on this device for me before I purchase this device, and I tell you, it worked like a charming baby! So much smoother than the original Glide ( I still have the riginal UI on it so that I can switch btween Glide and Spb Shell once in a while).

For me, Asus P565 + Spb Mobile Shell = Perfect combination. rclxms.gif rclxm9.gif

Hello everybody! I'm very excited to report in as a new user of Asus P565!

Bought this PDA smartphone yesterday and so far I'm very happy with it!

However, I asked my seller to install Mobile Shell 3.0 for me during purchase. Work out very well and smooth.

The GPS works really well too and very accurate using Garmin.

I've never guess I can watch all my anime on a phone and I just did exactly that.

The sound was good enough without using the headset. Video was very smooth (Smoother than my dad's old laptop)

I got the deal with free 8gb minisd and car kit and car charger.

Over all, I'm a happy owner!

It depends on what kind of method you prefer; as with most winmo phone, there's a lot of option for ASUS P565:

block/letter recognizer
qwerty keyboard
transcriber
chinese writing
ping ying
traditional numpad

Hi,
Another new owner of p565 and as mentioned by brandon and weichieh, it's a really superb combination of p565 and SPB shell. Get the latest shell 3.01

The fast processor makes the SPB shell works flawlessly.

The sreen is crisp and nice, eventhough slightly smaller than the onmia that i used previously. But it definitely looks nicer.

The dimension also suits me well. Small enuf not to weigh down my pants. haha

The GPS works great. Very fast start up and positioning. Definitely better than my nokia e66 and samsung omnia. Using garmin btw.

Ring tone a bit on the soft side. Feels plasticky.

Battery life quite reasonable for the processor speed but slightly less than omnia. Of course omnia comes with a huge dimension and weight.

And best of all, it comes with full accessories. Asus is definitely not miser on the package.

hi guys. just found out that low yat is a great forum to discuss gadgets. ( all this while browse low yat for dota tips ). I've used p565 since Feb. Bought at low yat brilliance shop. price then was 2099. Yup, i agree, mobile shell 3.0 is da best. This phone performance is so far my best winmo phone (compare to my old O2, and my frends htc). but ony now i feel sorry that the screen is 2.8 inch. The back leathery design is still considered macho actually.

The Quarter Video Graphics Array (also known as Quarter VGA, QVGA, or qVGA) is a popular term for a computer display with 320 × 240 resolution.

Wide QVGA or WQVGA is any display resolution having the same height in pixels as QVGA, but wider. This definition is consistent with other 'wide' versions of computer displays.

Since QVGA is 320 pixels wide and 240 pixels high (aspect ratio of 4:3), a WQVGA screen might be 384 pixels wide for 16:10 aspect ratio, 400 for 5:3, or 432 for 9:5.

Half-QVGA denotes a display screen resolution of 240×160 or 160×240 pixels, as seen on the Game Boy Advance. This resolution is half of QVGA, which is itself a quarter of VGA, which is 640×480 pixels.

winmo 65K is as good as nokia 16M, you can try to compare Sony experia X1 colour display with nokia 5800, colour display is not important, what is more important is the resolution, 480 by 800 pixel(sony experia x1) will always be on par or better than nokia 5800 (360 by 640 pixel).

it's useless if you have millions of colours but less pixel.

BTW i do not think our naked eye can see 16millions colour.

so for best winmo display, get only VGA (480 by 640) or WVGA (480 by 800) for clearer and sharp display.

some model like Toshiba G900/ G910 has 16.7m color support, very nice but lag battery consume (due lack of Goforce driver)
looks similar but different, the color gradient is alot better

btw, back to topic can anyone review the gps capabilites notworthy.gif

Asus P565 comes with built in SiRFStar III GPS chipset, which (if not mistaken) is the heart of most Garmin GPS devices!

Never been happier with the GPS performances using both Garmin and Map King..

yes, speaker quality sucks big time, P835 also.

G910 has 800 * 480 pixel but it is still running 65K but if you put side by side to compare to N97 16M colour, N97 still lose in term of colour contrast.
go for pixel and not how many millions colour, human naked eye only can see around 2M colour.

Regarding GPS, when you have fast processor, your GPS will be process faster also, used P320 before and GPS lags like h e l l even though it is using SIRF3 chip cause the PDA processor is slow....200mhz....and lousy amount of ram....64mb

Any pda running above 500mhz processor with at least 128mb of ram with SIRF3 chip will be good, and king of GPS PDA is From ETEN model like Eten X650, locks on instantly even after soft reset.

I compared my Asus to my friend's old Nokia N81, P565 definitely sounded better.. The sound much more crisp and clear.. The bass also better for a PDA phone..

The GPS works like a gem for me, blazing fast and accurate.. no kidding..

hey guys..i just got this phone a few days ago, and i'm loving it! totally fast!

got some stuff that i need some help, mostly regarding my programs.

1. what's the GPS catcher program for?
2. i cant get my windows live and messenger to work even though i'm already connected through wifi. it says that my certificate is not valid, or something like that. how to solve this?
3. i cant connect to facebook although with wifi already on. it says no connection available. funny thing is i can use the internet through internet explorer, and i can update my RSS feeds and weather.
4. in my connection settings, inside my network management, what should i set? now in default, programs that auto connect to internet are set to connect using maxis internet.

btw, i'm using 18/08/2008 ROM, if not mistaken is the india version. where can i find other roms for this pda?

any comments/user experience of the p565 video call?
is it clear? there was 1 review that said the video went blank a while when there was a bright background.
any input is appreciated.

the video call is good just the ring tone abit soft compare to nokia. And it qwerty keyboard is small. My finger too big but for sure this phone is great...wish to change to P835 at least bigger screen.

you can try install 3rd party keyboard software, like finger keyboard. the buttons are bigger and easier to type with.

I bought a 2nd hand unit which does not come with CD, I am using windows xp.

Plug in USB get message looking for Asus Mobile RNDIS driver... I searched everywhere online for the driver but cannot find sad.gif

Anyone can help? If you can burn me a CD I will pay for the CD & postage, if anyone living around Shah Alam/Kota Kemuning, I don't mind coming over to take, or if you can put it online in rapidshare, etc, will be much appreciated! notworthy.gif

Thank you. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Thanks, already resolved... good deal, bought 2 unit, one for me & one for my wife, both still under warranty, total paid for both RM900.

Then buy spare batteries, stylus, handsfree from ebay, total less than rm200.

Complete set for everything total less than RM1200 for 2 units. rclxms.gif

Next... trying to figure out how to port android over...

Even after i have installed the Actice Syn 4.5, this mesg is still shown when i have connected the cable between the phone and my computer.

i want to syncronised everything into my computer. because i want to transfer everything to HTC Mozart.
