Just want to share a DIY guide from a local club saga iswara forum.

A properly operating EGR can theoretically increase the efficiency of gasoline engines via several mechanisms:
* Reduced throttling losses. The addition of inert exhaust gas into the intake system means that for a given power output, the throttle plate must be opened further, resulting in increased inlet manifold pressure and reduced throttling losses.
* Reduced heat rejection. Lowered peak combustion temperatures not only reduces NOx formation, it also reduces the loss of thermal energy to combustion chamber surfaces, leaving more available for conversion to mechanical work during the expansion stroke.
* Reduced chemical dissociation. The lower peak temperatures result in more of the released energy remaining as sensible energy near TDC, rather than being bound up (early in the expansion stroke) in the dissociation of combustion products. This effect is minor compared to the first two.
This this means any carb with sludge/ clogged will have reduced efficiency and performance mentioned above!
For 4G13/4G15 carb engine saga/iswara/wira/satria...(all carb engine have EGR valve)
Step 1:

location of EGR valve, uncrew 2 x size 12 bolt, remove the hoses that connected to it, please mark the connection to avoid confusion.

close up shot of the EGR valve

the owner did clean it before few months ago, however just imagine yours never got cleaned before for decades.

treat it with full shot of carburetor cleaner.

something like this should be satisfactory. or u may polish it to mirror finish
Last step, install it back, secure the bolts make sure its tight, plug back the hoses, start your car. Feel the differences!!
Apparatus: 1 can of carb cleaner: RM19.9 (Jusco before discount)
1 x size 12 spanner
some old newspaper
cloth
and a can of softdrink for DIY satisfaction!
