Hey, I am looking for some budget laptop, which try be around 2.5K, If not, it can up to 3k.

Brand: Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Dell, Lenovo
Processor: Intel C2D, AMD (If heat is not cons)
size: 14-15.4

The specs...I do not have the clear view on the specs as high specs need a lot of $$ so choosing specs would struggle me a lot. Basically, it is for internet, movie, moderate game, CAD drawing, adobe flash, photoshop, programming...

Hope there is some comment about this..happy.gif

Thanks..

thinkpad is definitely better... since it's designed for business users...

Budget is around 2.5k but it can boost up to 3k...i'm some how targeting lenovo thinkpad or IdeaPad Y450. However, thinkpad is either too cheap or too expansive, i cant find the balances. ThinkPad SL400 spec is too slow. but others like R400 is quite expansive.....

honestly, between rm3k and rm4k, u can't find one that has the same performance lvl as BenQ S42...

u can consider Asus U80V, but it's more expensive than S42 (rm3599 for P8700 model iirc) but with less graphic performance as well...

also Dell new Studio 14 also, but also rm3599 as well... less graphic performance as well, in fact even less than Asus U80V...
*
BenQ .. it never come in to my mind..so u meant u80v is somehow overprice?

actually is not overpriced, asus provide 2 years int warranty...just that we found another 1 which more worth it to buy due to its better spec and also cheaper + the quality also as good as u80v and studio 14...
*
u refer to BenQ s57? Ok, I'll check on it..thanks thumbup.gif

well...if u r more toward design i dont think s57 is ur choice...s42's design is better...

I like the 14" than 15.6".. but both of the RAM and HDD are so low..4GB 1066 DDR2 RAM and 320GB 5400rpm HDD will be my target.

how is the warranty? 1year only?

somehow i have no idea about benq performance, would it somehow like acer, hp, compaq...??

Thanks..

the ram has minimal effect and hdd can change yourself.
warranty is 1 year only.

you mean performance? as in spec or what?
*
i meant if the spec r same, how is BenQ compare with acer, asus, toshiba.
how about the reliability of the laptop, easy fatigue?

to be honest, BenQ quality is better than Acer imho... close to wat Asus can give u...

used to own BenQ S41, besides the GPU problem of GeForce 8M, it's a really good laptop...
*
Regarding the quality can i said sth like this: Toshiba> Asus> BenQ> Dell> Acer, however, Dell warranty service is somehow better than others..? I still dunno which laptop I should go for. Cheaper (Dell [studio 14 - s510802MY] / BenQ [S57}) or better reliable (Asus F81SE or U80V/ Toshina [M300-D438R])... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

That is a very subjective question. I've always preferred Dell over any other brand when it comes to buying laptops. In my opinion, they offer an unbeatable price to performance ratio on almost all their systems. However, as I said this is subjective and I'm sure there will be others who vehemently disagree with me.
*
In my opinion, i think Acer can provide better ratio of price to performance than Dell..but the warranty service is not that good..
