still a clear winner isn't it???

plus Asus' standard 2 yr int'l warranty, definetely worth the price...

btw, BenQ S42 is at a much higher level than those u mentioned...  GeForce 9600M GT...

15.6" WLED Display

imho..

between Asus and Acer, i would choose Asus because of the better quality and warranty, so out goes Acer

between Asus and Dell, the Rm200 extra u get:
1) Better CPU
2) Vista HP instead of Vista HB
3) larger HDD
4) double the RAM
5) larger monitor
6) 1 yr less of int'l warranty

if warranty is not priority, i would choose Dell...
*
yea..me too..my priority is more on performance..so i've decided to go with Dell 15"
thanx 4 helping me decide astria..fast reply and informative..really good work thumbup.gif

ic, but how is the 4730zg's gaming performance? is there a major difference between ati 4570 and 3470? worth adding the extra rm600?
*
i bet there is major difference..if u take a look at chart of notebookcheck.com..quite far ranking..60 and 101 wo..
sumore double the shaders..3Dmark06 score for 4570 is 3170..for 3470 oni 1959..

but in the end,it all depends on what games u wanna play..and how detailed u wan(use AA filters, anistropic, etc, etc)
if u still not satisfied,u can check on the net for review of both this gc.. nod.gif

but i dunno if its worth the RM600 tongue.gif

really ram? how? and can you upgrade the graphic card?
*
yeah..ram can easily be upgraded..just open up the ram panel at bottom of lappie with screwdrivers..then remove the old ones and replace with new ones..simple.hdisk is also same..but a bit hard..may void warranty for some..

graphic card..theoritically and practically can,but it is such a tedious process..(such a pain the a** if u ask me)..may even involve separating the LCD display from th the lappie itself..takot woo..just type 'how to remove graphic card from laptop' in youtube n u can see edi..

so,most ppl who buy laptop is stuck with what they have oni..hope this helps laugh.gif

I see, btw mind explaining whats GPU?
*
no prob bro.

"A graphics processing unit or GPU (also occasionally called visual processing unit or VPU) is a dedicated graphics rendering device for a personal computer, workstation, or game console. Modern GPUs are very efficient at manipulating and displaying computer graphics, and their highly parallel structure makes them more effective than general-purpose CPUs for a range of complex algorithms. A GPU can sit on top of a video card, or it can be integrated directly into the motherboard. More than 90% of new desktop and notebook computers have integrated GPUs, which are usually far less powerful than those on a video card."

got this from wikipedia..i highlight the important parts 4 u..

integrated GPU=integrated into motherboard(can't be removed from motherboard)..like intel's
dedicated GPU=the GPU sit on top of video card..some medium to high-end laptops comes with this..usually stated how much memory the video card have..(e.g:256ram,512ram,etc)

owh..i forgot to mention that one..some laptop use shared memory to gain more power for graphic processing..these ones usually takes up some of your system RAM that u install in your laptop..

for example:64mb dedicated(built in)+some shared memory from ur RAM=300 total memory.. nod.gif

QUOTE(Angel01 @ Apr 24 2009, 05:15 PM)
So a 256mb Ati Mobility Radeon is better than the 300mb integrated i spoke about?
*
correct.256mb ati is dedicated 256mb already from ati video card.
300mb integrated means sumting like 64mb dedicated+some system RAM(not graphic card one).

so,256mb dedicated is better than 64mb dedicated rite?
plus,if ur video card support shared memory..even better.

its like this:

1.64mb dedicated+256mb borrowed from system RAM=320 total
2.256mb dedicated+256mb borrowed from system RAM=512 total

from this,u can see that no 2 is better right?of course this only applies to system that support shared memory..(u can see some stickers say up to 320mb or sumting) biggrin.gif

QUOTE(astria @ Apr 24 2009, 05:14 PM)
but remember, more RAM does not mean better, still depends on the GPU (aka core) of the card then can determine how good a card is...
*
what he mean is for example if u compare ati hd 4570(256mb dedicated) with ati hd 3470(256mb dedicated)..same ram rite?but the number in front usually shows which one is better..given the dedicated ram are the same..

in this case..the 4570 is the winner bcoz better GPU..(4series vs 3series)

QUOTE(Angel01 @ Apr 25 2009, 12:37 PM)
which one is better the 1021mb HD 3470 or the 256 mb HD 4570?

Added on April 25, 2009, 12:37 pmbut it gives 1021MB for HD 3470 its worst than the 256 mb 4570?
*
this is a tough one..but then again not really..cuz the VRAM stated in your case is clearly "shared memory"..that is it takes part of ur system RAM..and uses it to gain more graphical power..so then the 'real' dedicated ram is sumting like 256mb actually for ati 3470..not 1021MB..the 1021MB refers to after u hv shared with ur system RAM..

unless were talking about a 'real' dedicated 1021mb ati 3470 vs 256mb ati 4570..thats a different story..
but most of the time..the real power comes from the GPU or sometimes called the chipset..(the series number infront like ati 4xxx or ati 3xxx)

and like astria mentioned, using system RAM actually is
1.slow
2.it takes up your system RAM..so u only got what u have left for using Windows, other appplications,etc,etc..this isn't a problem actually if u have plenty of system RAM to spare..like 4GB of RAM..but might pose a problem if lower

What type of games? If just like Warcraft or CS,dont really need discrete GPU.GMA4500HD is enough for your needs.

IMO,for 2.5k the best would be the STUDIO 15 2GHZ and HD4570 if not mistaken smile.gif
*
for this one,i need clarification on this..i know some say Intel GC is enough for DOTA or CS..
but some intel performance are bad..
yes,both can run..and its playable..but what i'm seeking is

1.for Dota, does it lag when there are too many creeps or spells thrown around the screen?(default setting)
2.for CS,can it play CS Source (not 1.6)without any lag?(default setting also)

really appreciate feedback from who has tested this..Intel 4500MHD owners especially or other Intel integrated cards..
