What would you guys advice me...getting the basic 6 month plan, with the 500mb and rely the first couple of months on wifi before getting a new and possibly better deal at some other Malaysian telcom provider?

I will not talk that much locally on the phone, so the biggest plan is only needed for the 3gb data...and not for the huge amount of free minutes..

Any chance there will be more interesting plans when other providers join? Or will that take ages?
*
well, it all depends on your budget & your monthly usage in terms of calls and data. there's still no confirmed news that other telco besides Maxis will be bringing in the iPhone 3G, however, we would not rule out the possibility since Apple did partner with few telcos in Aus alone in selling the iPhone.

no family plus plan with the ivalue. Sorry. No more free calls between supplementary lines right?
*
no free calls and SMS between main iValue & all other Family Plus supp lines. but supp lines and supp lines can still enjoy free calls & SMS between them.

So in a way it cost more if you're bf & gf in this ivalue + family plan eh...hmmm
*
yes. that's why i'm sticking to my VP50 + Family Plus 50 rather than registering with the iValue plan, based on my monthly calls & SMS usage. i don't see myself utilizing that much of data per month. and most of my calls made are to my Family Plus supp line, plus most of my usage are on SMSes.

@string:

do update us on what happened there. photos would be great. appreciate it. smile.gif

Ivalue really targat on iphone personal usage ONLY. no sms, no free calls between family & members... worse case in...  average usage in Local Calls (RM50) and LOW usage for 3g Data (500MB, guess just download some apps and surf during weekend ) mad.gif
*
QUOTE(yewjin @ Mar 20 2009, 06:01 PM)
damn you are right and if use international call - need to top up. E.g. ivalue plan + sms + mms + roaming charges + international calls - wah lau.. not so good ler..

What is included in the bundled talk time of an i-Value plan?
The bundled talk time includes only domestic calls (on-net & off-net). Hence, it
excludes Video Calls, IDD, International Roaming, Value Extras subscriptions,
SMS, Downloads and other subscription-based services.
*
agreed with both statements. so the only reason reason to go for iValue is when you're a moderate data user, calls are mostly domestic, low SMS usage, does not bother about Family Plus free calls/SMS & looking for local warranty for your iPhone 3G.

Kinda confused when reading through the previous posts..

So, for the Value Plus Plan, the penalty fee is Rm100 only or Rm100 * remaining months?
How about iValue Plans?
*
string mentioned about the penalty fees before, somewhere in the old iPhone 3G coming to Malaysia thread.

Ermm, that remark is posted during the speculation days. Once the internal Maxis email was in my hands, it is basically "pay the remainder of your subscribed plan + the length of that plan".

I'll quote myself,
*
@stringfellow:

thanks mate. will post this up on the first post. smile.gif

EDIT:

first post updated with penalty charges for terminating contract earlier than contracted period.

bro i dont understand only ask ma.....
hope u understand...... Y.Y
i read the T&C until blur jor and i going crazy......

a summary of what the T&C meant:

- let's say your current bill is more than RM250 per month & you've been Maxis customer for more than 6 months, the advance payment is waived ie. you don't have to pay.

- if not, you will need to pay RM1250 upfront. the RM1250 will be refunded to you in 5 months time (at a fixed amount amount each month i assume)

for your case, here's what you need to pay when getting the phone @ iValue 3 for 24 months contract:

RM1250 (advance payment) + RM1060 (price for iPhone 3G 16GB) + RM250 commitment per month (for 24 months).

hi!guys,just wanna ask for Value Plan RM80 per month,do i need to pay RM2960 for the phone and RM80 * 6 month??or RM2960/6month installment??
*
i assume you meant the 16GB right? pay RM2960 upfront for the phone then RM80 monthly for 6 months, which includes free 500MB data usage for 6 months.

*
yes. that's true. RM250 will be the maximum amount charged to any Maxis user for data usage.

1) it fluctuates to one bar to full bar erratically
2) frequent disconnections
3) people can't get me sometimes when that place is a common area with full line
4) like, when talking halfway can hear, cannot hear, can hear, etc.
5) most of the time my first phone call wouldn't get through and i have to call again..only 2nd time will go through..

boy, do i suck at describing but i hope u get my drift...

thanks!

i think there must be the issue of Maxis, not the phone. i'm using a yellowsn0w-unlocked one with Maxis and those problems are common to me, till a stage which i stop bother about it anymore. Maxis service has been kinda bad lately (at least for me). the same happens to my circle of friends who's on Maxis too, which are not iPhone users.
