urm..the 4890 is same just 4870 just the different is core and memory speed only?

With NVIDIA getting ready to launch the GTS 250, ATI is slashing prices on its HD

4870 and HD 4850 cards. The price cuts will drop the 4870 down to $149 and the 4850 will go down to $129. If the price cuts hit later in the week, this should really give NVIDIA a run for its money.

ATI's dual GPU offerings, the HD4850 X2 and HD4870 X2, don't seem to be getting the price cut at all and the HD 4830 will also stay the same price. The HD 4830 will soon be replaced by the upcomming RV740, which is also expected to launch along side the RV790 chip.

More importantly is that this adds some evidence to earlier rumors on the Radeon HD 4890 launch date of April 6.

If everything holds true, the next month or so will prove very interesting for everyone in the video card market. Both desktop and mobile users are getting new chips and with lots of new numbers flying around, the fight for title of king will surely be a heated one.
RM149 and RM129 are you sure?

If this baby is going to compete with GTX 285, so the price should be around $299-$349, right?

But I don't know is it a wise step for ATI drop the 4870 to $149, coz it not only affect the NVidia card, but also ATI own product, now 4870 CF only need $298, yet 4870 X2 is selling at $399-$449, and this 4890, who is going to buy this card which is only 20%+ better then a 4870 instead of 4870 CF which offer 80%+ better?

so.. the 4830 and 4850 is the same technology but with different core speed rite?
if let say.. i oced the 4830 core same as 4850, did't i get the same performance?

No, the latest rumor says that the 4890 going to compete with GTX260 core 216, 4890 iz juz like gtx260 core 216(update from gtx 260 192 sp)
