REJOICE!

Resident Evil 5 comes to the PC September 15 - in 3D!

Capcom's latest survival horror game now has a release date for our platform. Resident Evil 5 will have its PC port ship to stores on September 15 in the US (Europeans will have to wait until September 18 to get the port). The PC version will have some new content compared to the console versions including "new costumes and a new and improved mercenaries mode with three times as many enemies."

For those of you who have the equipment, the PC port will also contain support for Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision glasses. According to Capcom the game will also be the first PC game to include support for "Stereoscopic 3D in all of its cut scenes." If you have the 3D Vision glasses, the right Nvidia graphics card and the supported monitors you can download a Resident Evil 5 3D benchmark utility right now at Nvidia's Nzone web site along with a pack of 3D Vision supported screenshots from the game. If you are going to the San Diego Comic-Con next week, Capcom will be showing the PC port of Resident Evil 5 with the 3D effects to the public for the first time at their booth.

RE4 is terrible on PC because you can't use the mouse to aim, you have to use the KBO to aim. Furthermore, it looks like PS2 graphics instead of Gamecube. With high end Pc, it has FPS drop. It was a very bad port.

DMC4 and SF4 are great because they planned to make it on their 1st announcement. Means that it was more optimized. RE5 however wasn't announced for PC on their 1st announcement so i can't be sure if it's optimized or not.

It could end up like Lost Planet or use KBO to aim which... bad lol.

Resident Evil 5 was never officially announced for PC first but everyone knew it was coming.

Also if I am not mistaken it is using the same (or improved) game engine that worked well with their previous game on the PC (Lost planet, Devil May Cry 4, Street Fighter IV).

Finally, for the horrible RE4 port, you can thank Ubisoft for having a hand at that mess.

I'm downloading the demo as we speak and will post up the result later on. Can't wait!

Runs like an average 30 fps (gameplay mode) on my ancient Dell PC with a HD3850 512MB on all high settings (except shadows on medium), 1024X768, no-vsync, no AA. Looks pretty nice though biggrin.gif

Err, about the same, except mine has only 2 GB ram and Pentium D 820 2.6ghz. HD3850 is about equivalent to your 4670. It certainly looks very playable, except for the fixed test where the benchmark puts like 30+ models into the game causing the fps to drop to 20+.
