Runs like an average 30 fps (gameplay mode) on my ancient Dell PC with a HD3850 512MB on all high settings (except shadows on medium), 1024X768, no-vsync, no AA. Looks pretty nice though biggrin.gif

oh. what is your rig? specs! specs!

me ish ancient dell pc also

mine ish

single core

p4 3.0ghz 2mb L2 cache 800mhz fsb
2.5gb ddr2 ram 533mhz
sapphire ati 4670 512mb gddr4 ram

whats yours?

ooh 30 fps should be playable.

i wonder if got 640 x 480
*
Err, about the same, except mine has only 2 GB ram and Pentium D 820 2.6ghz. HD3850 is about equivalent to your 4670. It certainly looks very playable, except for the fixed test where the benchmark puts like 30+ models into the game causing the fps to drop to 20+.

Mine AMD Phenom II X4 940 , runs at stock clock (3.0 Ghz)

and the graphic card is HD4830, runs at 730Mhz core clock.

i think this game rike graphic card more than processors.

humm how much....i tink nao Phenom II 940 around RM6xx, and the HD4830 around RM300~310

With that excess fps you have there, you could easily go DX10 biggrin.gif, wonder how would the game play on my lappy hmm.gif

RE suppose to be having less ammo to deal with the zombies.....if i'm not wrong, re genre suppose to be survivor horror??

RE4 and 5 are no longer survivor horror games, they are more like survivor action games smile.gif
RE1,2,3 all feel very different from RE4 and 5 (as i played all of them except 5 icon_idea.gif )

Apparently, tomshardware.com contacted Capcom and they mentioned that the directX 10 and 9 versions are visually the same except for the DirectX10 version to have lower fps and support for Nvidia 3D goggles. blink.gif

heres the source

Update: After a bit of waiting, we were plugged in to the game's developers in Japan, who let us know that there is zero difference between the DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 code paths available in the demo. Thus, if you run the demo on ATI hardware, be sure to use the DirectX 9 path. For the purpose of these tests, again, don't bother comparing performance, as the Radeon HD 4870 X2s should be significantly quicker. If you're running Nvidia hardware, it's also safe to go with DirectX 9. The DirectX 10 option is the way to go for playing through GeForce 3D Vision shades.

Update 2: There's a hotfix that ATI says adds CrossFireX support to Resident Evil 5, available here. This was not the problem we were experiencing here, it turns out, though. With the hotfix applied, our results in the DirectX 10 version of the demo were still at or under 40 frames per second. The real issue is, in fact, the DirectX 10 mode of the game. Re-running 2560x1600 with 4xAA results in a score of 104.6 frames per second (higher than a pair of GeForce GTX 285s on the Core i5 platform). If you're testing your ATI-based GPU in this one, make sure you use DX9!

There's actually a pretty robust modding community for RE4, I remember a forum providing large amounts of mods ranging from texture re-placers to additional HDR lighting. You should be able to find the HDR mod here ENB series

Don't bother with DX10, you gain non whatsoever additional visual effect in this game with a frame drop. smile.gif

Ya, its was proven in my earlier post, DX10 was supposedly visually same with DX9 for this game except for the nvidia 3d goggles support.

Wish I can hack those damn 'zombies' limbs with a chainsaw. 'Quick slash' is not really that quick you know. tongue.gif

Offtopic: I just remember there is another hidden survival horror gem: Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. With it no hub, creepy storyline, insinuative gameplay element (the game will end if the pc lost saw something horrible which might makes him permanent insanity or suicide). This one is a must play for any survival horror fan. And no there's no zombie in this one. Only some fish-men thingie.  tongue.gif

The game is rather buggy though, I couldn't complete it due to a bug sad.gif

apparently the easiest way to get a really really high score in mercs is to use wesker midnight, shoot head --> cobra shoot head---> cobra. If played perfectly you will kill all the mobs before the time even runs out cause every melee attack adds +5 secs, I got a 500k score by doing that (130+ combo) biggrin.gif

Anybody here has tried out the ENB series for RE5? It takes away the dark slimy effect in the game which makes the game oddly more colorful...
ENB for RE5

Apparently versus mode (on the PS3) is not a pure gunfight between players but a mode where players focus on getting the most points in the same old maps, shooting the other players is allowed though doh.gif
