regarding the new firmware v20
for those user that previous already update to v20
do we still need to update it again?
today i jz call ncc, ncc ppl told me if i already v20, is ok that din update it with this new v20 firmware
*
Good question. I updated to v20 when it first came out and It's been ok till now. My opinion is there is no reason to reinstall if it is working fine. I do not think there is a difference.

For those using Garmin XT latest version with MFM 1.44, do you find that when saving a location, Garmin XT sometimes freezes up? I experience that a couple of times and am suspecting that the Tube processor can't really keep up with Garmin's resource requirements.

Curious....ya ask NCC what the changes are and share it with us. If the changes are worth it, we may want to reinstall v20 but I rather just leave it be as so far so good with my current v20.

my garmin only freeze up when i multi task.say, minimize thn goto gallery etc. other that that, its performing quite well.

That is quite common. Maybe it is the MFM maps with all its custom POI, map too detailed perhaps? hmm.gif

Hmmmm......I might just give the Lite version a try but so far I like the full version with all the custom icons etc but I do experience some lag on occassion but never too much that I missed a turning. Thanks for your feedback though.

keke nice one mate. Its true alot of ppl will just enter this thread and straight ask wishing someone to spoon feed them. They come spoon feed nvm after they get their solution they just disappear. A community is about sharing. I really dont mind helping but problem the answer is already there in the frontpage if they take some effort to at least read thru AT LEAST ONCE they will really find many solution to their problem. If Frontpage doesnt have it please feel free to ask me and many ppl here would be glad to answer. For alot of regular here they will get annoy for the same bloody question keep repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and nvm we need answer like 50 times.

After u spoon feed them once for every problem they will come back here to wait to be spoon feed again. Like slade said its about forum ethics.

Is it so hard to open www.google.com and type your problem there?
*
I totally agree with both slade and aspire2006. Although for the truly "newbies" who do not know about forum ethics etc., maybe we should stick slade's post on the front page. At least then we have given "notice" to them. Sometimes it is difficult to educate these hit and run kakis as they just want nothing but to be spoon fed without having to do the necessary research or even participating in the community. If we don't layan them some even call us "action".....sigh.

Go and get it.....no need to wait. Great phone! Never regretted buying it. thumbup.gif

This is in reply to gregxin: Well to be honest Google is your best friend in this case just use the keywords to your search and add lowyat. Most times results will come out if there are any and you can zoom in on the correct version. It's just a matter of refining your search. Heck even I managed to completed my thesis a long time ago with the help of Google. Point is there are many people that do not even take the trouble to search the older threads, perhaps they don't know how to or most are not aware that the info is on the front page? Whatever the case, all of us here are willing to help but sometimes we get really annoyed when "lazy" people just come and ask for something already discussed many times or just leave after they get what they want.

I think 5800 is prototype of N97!!! vmad.gif

when N97 comes out then so many softwares will be waiting for nokia touch phone
*
Friend the earliest adopters of new stuff are all "beta testers" for the manufacturer, it's a fact. It's the best way for Nokia to gauge the acceptance of their touch interface. Of course it is the base from which N97 will be built but we are talking about 2 very different target customer segments here, the 5800 is the everyman touchscreen device, the N97 for the discerning and "rich" customers that demand the best for everything.

Also, with these many 5800 users, the OS keeps getting improvements, I don't know about you but I love trying out new stuff, even when it's not perfect. To me the fun is pushing for new improvements, seeing the development of the platform maturing. Cheers! smile.gif

Anyone had this too?? Shall it update??

If you have this screen, means you already have v20 firmware. There is no need to update unless the v20 firmware you have currently is giving you problems. Then it just reinstalls by overwriting your existing firmware, technically that is not an "update".

Why my Garmin always crash when "drawing..". I wan to go to msia map but keep crash....  i got malsing 2.15.. how to go msia map? i search "malaysia" dont hv result...

The s60v5 UI has been reviewed and one of the quirks is that on some items a single tap is required, others double tap. When the items are in a list, typically you need to tap twice. It's normal. For Garmin, please read the instructions on the front page. It provides you with all the details on how to install. To be safe, remove/unsinstall Garmin and follow the instructions exactly and you should be fine. There is no need to choose msia map, just save the Malsing map into the Garmin folder and Garmin should read it, have you installed the base files for Garmin. Once again check the front page. Good luck.

Hey,

I'm trying to update my software to the latest one but ...
I'm currently staying in a hostel, and my NSU can't connect because the following applications can't gain access to the internet :

1) nsl_host_process.exe
2) nsu_ui_client.exe

Well, my connection is connected through proxy, so is there anyway I could bypass the proxy?

OR is there any other alternative?
Like looking at the frontpage, it says I could update through GPRS or 3G, would it cost? If yeah, how much?

Cheers!
*
You typically cannot bypass the proxy unless the network administrator allows you too. There are some ways you can try like tunneling through the proxy with certain programs but that is a little technical and may not work also (not recommended, because if you get caught it is a serious breach of conduct). Your network admin most likely bans all .exe files for security reasons so that malware, virus etc. that sometimes use executable code is not introduced into the network. Sorry mate, looks like you have to find an open access point to do your updating.

I dunno about N73 quality but to me it still under performs in low light situations. In well lit situations the results are good.

Anyways, thanks!
Mmmm,
Anyways, my touch screen is still pretty weird. If you read one of my old post in this thread.
I don't know why sometimes the touch screen thingy doesn't work.
Then when I apply pressure, like pressing the front screen casing down, then it'll work.
Then it goes to bad luck, that the touch function doesn't work well again sad.gif

Do you think resetting the phone would do any good? OR it's hardware problem?
If it's hardware problem, boooooooooooo! sad.gif
*
Hard to say. From your description it could be a hw problem, why not just drop it off at NCC and get them to look at it and at the same time upgrade your fw? Or are you studying overseas, if so then you'll just have to live with it for now until you get back for break. There are times where I have to press on the icon a little harder to get a response but I suspect it is more of a performance issue with respect to available memory. I noticed that the OS is not very efficient in freeing up RAM and after some time the RAM goes down to 30+MB only. So perhaps this plus a not too speedy CPU produces a lagging effect that translates to our experience of having no response when we touch on an item. Bear in mind that this is my speculation only.

Video recording performance in good light is very good. On par with low end digicams at least.  tongue.gif
Although the inprovements are vast with v20, there are still lots of small stuff that should've been implemented that doesn't seem all that important but can be really useful.

Like 'mark several', faster notification blink, better screen behaviour(some of us and quite a whole lot more around the world experience erratic behaviour of the screen), more flexible video player that can play more format, etc.
*
I have to agree with the above comments. The Tube is excellent but like any new stuff, there are minor things that could be further improved to increase the overall user experience to a better level than it is now. Thankfully the Tube's price is reasonable and thus I tend to forgive minor irritants. If it were an N-series device though I'd have to say I would have been sorely disappointed because of the premium I'd have to pay for a top-line model. So for now the Tube is still very much a joy to use even with it's fair share of bugs and value it gives.

Crappyness ahaha! To NCC at June/July!

Anyways, will try hard reset first. Mmm.

My more detailed problem is like, eventhough I tap the Contact Book and Dialler Icon, it doesn't highlight or anything. No response, no vibration.
Mmm, then if I go to the main menu, if I click the left side of the phone icons, for example my Settings Icon, the Application Icon on the right side is the one which gets clicked.

Problem just started 2 days ago.

Using a theme from Pizero.net
Theme name is Spyro.
Anyways, I've just changed back to the Nokia 5800 original theme, locked the phone, then unlocked, the problem happened again
Mmmm.
*
Curious. Last time similar thing happened to me I reverted back to ori theme and so far so good. I think I experience something like you but not so serious. Must be some software conflict with the fw.

Get Invisibleshield  from Zagg(Full cover). Worth to apply it.

Be careful though, applying Zagg requires skill if not some forumner here says the result will look ugly. As with any product research it before you spend. I heard even Zagg has discoloration issues i.e. it becomes "yellowish" after some time.

I do not have that issue. The gallery typically searches for images in the phone and memory card. Perhaps your Garmin icons got installed in one of those folders? Garmin icons should be part of a system folder and therefore excluded from the Gallery. Sorry, unable to assist, perhaps some sifus here can help?

Hi guys, anybody tried out any good 3rd party music players for the Tube. I find the standard player functionality frustrating at times (maybe I dunno how to use it well), for example, adding songs to the now playing list...where the hell is that function? My old SE W880i had all those but I can't seem to figure the Nokia player controls out. Everything is through playlists only.
