In LYN's community, we have a variety of forumers. From those that willingly help to improve the website/community/forums to those "backbenchers" who complain, whine and give negative criticism that makes matters worst (thanks the stars we don't have many of those). From the forums, it is evident that you have the time and the money to splurge on whatever hardware you want. Mind you, a lot of us don't have the time nor the financial luxury to do that. You say that this forum could be better. Would you be one of the forumers to make it better? I'm sure you have tried out a lot of expensive high-end hardwares that most of us can only dream of. Have you ever done or tried to do any reviews? If you, with time, money and knowledge, could not do that, how do you expect the average forumer to do so? - Model 03- Senior Member 1,265 posts Joined: Sep 2008	wow me a superstar?geez...i dunno lol but anyways...i dont think that i would say /k/ is benificial...but audiophile sect and musician sect for instance...it is quite resourceful not to mention garage sales...gamerz forum...mens fashion...LYN has taken foruming to a new lvl...i daresay i couldnt find much Malaysian forum that would rival LYN in diversity...but if you prefer a more Tech smart wise forum, why not try improving it starting from ourselves?reviews are made by users...if you are very honest and sure bout your reviews...whatever flames coming to you would mean nothing at all...

Secondly, my guides were meant to help noobs to at least grasp the topic at hand. My view that you should "teach a man to fish" rather than "giving fishes to every tom-d*-and-harry" that comes along. How many times did you see a noob ask "Can somebody teach me how to overclock?". One time? 10 times? 100 times? Are you going to be there all the time to teach them? Or maybe we can have an understanding that if anybody needs help, we can say "Pm cstkl1, he will help you". Your argument about guides are flawed. Nobody can make a guide that covers every hardware and situation. You can never cover every aspect including, like what you mentioned, newer chipset/hardwares!!! Guides, as I make it, are catered to a specific group/topic relevant to that point in time, nothing more and nothing less. Since you seem to be an expert in guides, I challenge you to make a guide. Make sure it is VERY specific to every situation/scenario/hardware which also includes older and newer hardwares. It should also cater towards noobs and non-noobs so that you don't leave out anybody that might benefit from the guide. Also, you have to make sure your guides are not complicated and long that people will get lost in it but not too general that some noobs might not understand it. For your information, my first overclocking guide WAS posted in the overclocking section. However, it was moved to the essential/guide section by the moderator of that time. After discussion with the moderator, he advised me to post all my guides in the essential/guide section. I was a bit frustrated but that's what I did. Mind you, I didn't have to reply to this but since you asked...... As for the rest of the comments, I'll leave it to other forumers to reply...... Edit : Oh ya, about your question on "indirectly agreeing with you that there are not much hardware review in LYN".... This is in relation to the magazine which said "Although famous for its forums, Lowyat also offers news and reviews of products". Note that LYN also OFFERS news and reviews of products. It didn't say LYN offers many many many news and reviews of products. Worse case scenario of ONE or TWO product reviews already makes the above statement true. " better not lead a blind to cross the road when ure half blind as well".. u either go detail or not at all with a battery of test to back it up. i did a test on gc and cpu core once and wanted to show the difference and then i realized.. how stupid it is.cause things change. even psu. look at what is happening with the x58. even some 1kw's psu's single rail etc doesnt really work with s3 states etc etc etc. u dont think its funny a moderator to move that topic out of overclocking etc etc and making it a guide which is meant for noobies and noobies dont know it exist and cant find it?? again the structure of the hardware section is the cause. can give u tons in example.. look at rams. last time performance rams were high binned and value was just picked from a pile with jdec spec. now the values are no where close to performance ram.the amount of chipsets, binning, etc etc etc.. its getting more and more difficult to pinpoint the old way of ppl saying get a value ram slap a heatsink and u can clock as well as a performance ram. so shall we start a thread guide about value rams?? same goes for so many things.. the variety of product line.. quality etc is all becoming more and more niche. so again whatever that was said in the past cannot be done now. as i said before in another thread.. before 4x1gb ram vs 2x2gb. old timers were argueing 2 sticks vs 4sticks because of 1n issue and latencies etc etc etc.. asus x48 ddr3 did 4x1gb 1n....which was thought impossible. things change. i mean even the topic of gtl. theres no spefici answer to this.. 780,790,p35,p45,x38,x48 are all different cause the gtl is nb chipset dependent and for ddr3 makes it worst as its dram nb vtt, dram channel a/b dependent also. skewing also is another topic on its on. mike from xs once quoted that skewing other than feel even came to a point u need to check ure bios mem table settings on drive etc to correct it as its ram chipset dependent. its worst to give a noobie a guide that he thinks he understand and heads to the shop to buy his stuff only to face a ton of issues. me again » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « whats the point asking me .. i only know the stuff i use. thats all. havent u guys realized that. and 90 percent of what i say sometimes just from discussing in xs and me testing it out or just from conversations with some xs members and also have to credit some Singaporeans friends on mine which we exchange hardwares to test out some problems etc to single out the cause. have u seen me giving advice on something i dont have or tested it out multi platform to find the kinks..y cause i actually do ask a lot of referral for the product and whats its capable off in specific forums/ phone calls to the distro/ emailing the company / talking to the engineer.. tech ppl. so thats y i prep for eventual issues that might occur. its not like i solved it on my own or anything. if u see me as a expert in hardware.. again god help lyn if the best they have is me. there should be better. i only know about the stuff i have. It just can't cater for every person or situation. Everybody has their strength and weaknesses. With your advantage/strength/time/experience/money, you can help a lot of our forumers. Just be a bit patient and hold back the cynicism and bitterness..... LYN is not perfect but we do what we can to make it a better community, no? Anyway, we're off-topic......

Anyway, we're off-topic...... didnt say we dont have good community theres quite a few thats particularly outstanding.. the mobile phones and audiophile is one that i can think of at the moment. and others also.. but i am what i am talking about is hardware since lyn is suppose to be "tech " community and the predawn of all "tech" is computer hardware. i just see forumer with 3k in hardware section yet no different than what he was from 0 post. this is y i think the urgency to change the structure. even moderating for the staff etc would be 10 times easier. this will also cultivate individuals to be specific in their advice and expertise. no more jake of all trades. the other day somebody asked me about x38 maximus formula with q6600.. eventhough i spent nearly 3-4 months with so many rams on it. i cant remember for crap on heck the pros and cons. but if there was a thread where users had gathered and we discussed on settings/templates pros cons etc.. how much easier would this have been. some of the strongest threads in xs are p35's and p965 the no of ppl in lyn who still using this two chipset are plenty more than xs. also look at the buy and sell thread.. its like the most active thread.. sishh thats freaking sad.
