Need for Speed: Shift will launch on PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP this autumn - as will Need for Speed: Nitro on Wii and DS. Need for Speed: World Online will be released to the Asian online PC market this summer, before heading West in the winter.
Need for Speed: Shift will be made by Slightly Mad Studios of GT Legends and GTR 2 fame, with help from EA Black Box producer Michael Mann and EA Games Europe bigwig Patrick Soderlund.
Shift focuses on simulation racing - not just the realistic movement of cars, but also driver behaviour. This, EA marketing boss Keith Munro told Eurogamer, is what will set the game apart. Also, less baggy jeans and hip-hop.

I'm excited for this new direction. Just that after see pple bashing ProStreet for its non-storymode circuit racing, I wonder how this full sim circuit racing will do...

Gah I just want something more like Most Wanted. Carbon was too "hip-hop-y" and Pro Street felt like an urban take on a Formula 1 sim. Most Wanted IMO is the best NFS game out there. *reinstalls Most Wanted*
18 months in development, the most ambitious NFS title yet, and it has 'ProStreet' feel at its core. A racing sim of how it feels to crash, brake, overtaking, etc. Camera blurring as you speed, sound, AI adopting to your racing style, AI making mistakes, AI never appears to do the same thing twice, fuel pressure, etc. etc.
Let's just say I am expecting NFS ProStreet done right. Definitely on my list of Must-Buy games of 09.

Never liked GT series... I already lost faith on driving games... the last ones i played were FM2, PGR4 and Prostreet, they were ok at best... Heard Grid is nice, but no faith to test already

Seriously. This NFS iteration is pretty much incredible. NFS ProStreet was the first NFS that got me uber excited after numerous... "Fast & Furious" style racing. NFS Undercover was fun to play, but seriously flawed.
What EA has done with "SHIFT" is stunning... and the above links aren't the first of gameplay footage.
Now... can you smell the rubber ? I certainly can. Excited !
Its from the folks who made "ProStreet". So its pretty much ProStreet done right (and fun !).
The folks of "Undercover" is making another NFS for next year. So perhaps this is the next "underground" title ? EA has this cycle of two dev teams making an NFS game every year. So hopefully 2010 - - "Undercover" done right.

IMO, NFS Shift probably have the worst force feedback implementation ever for current generation driving game. You really don't have much feel of what the front wheel is doing. There are no perceptible indication when you have exceeded the front wheel grip level (ie, understeer). There are no indication of weight transfer. Braking, accelerating, nada. No change to the steering feel.
Worse, there are no force feedback when you climb a kerb, or when going over elevation changes (ie, Laguna Seca's corkscrew).
Are they lazy or what? And this from a game that they say may give Forza and GT a run for their money.

Yup, tried with G25 on the PC version. Same issue, the FF is not impressive at all.
If you use the controller this game is pretty impressive. It's not built on the wheel. One of the best NFS game I can say. The cockpit view is a lot better than DiRT 2's. 3rd person view not too good because the devs said that this game is built base on cockpit view so less emphasize on that.
Also there's a trial lap to detect your skills so it's noob(like me) friendly too.

I'm fast losing faith in the NFS franchise. I got burnt on the last NFS Undercover. This latest iteration is crap on the MS Wheels. The car physics is meh. My 2 cents.
Come to think of it, thank God that this game didnt arrive at GH on 15th.... If not, sure I already bought this game. For racing, I will just stick to Forza & GT....

Anyways after a few tweaks with the controls settings and quick tuning, seems to manage to stop the cars from twitching and it handles quite nicely now (nowhere near forza handling) but the "bouncing" physics are still suck ballz
Anyone has a good setting for those dead zone and sensitivity? I gave up messing with them, attempted from 0% till 100%, but the control still utterly sucks ball... It won't steer at one moment, then the next moment the car turns till tires screeching, wth... I on the verge of throwing the game inside my fridge d...
NFS has better control than Dirt2??? Are we playing the same games? Dirt2 you can do all sort of stunts easily, you can tackle corners with conventional brake-acc or just drift thru them, easily. But NFS... i don't know what's wrong, it's either i couldn't set the control properly OR the control is just plain ball sucking.
drift mode memang hard control.. i dont like drift mode. u all playing with controler or steering? if want play drift racing game just play mario kart or outrun drift 1km also can

Yes i do agree dirt2 is a bit too grip-less, but NFS is whack-job. One moment you have all the grip you want, more actually, but suddenly the next moment you lose all your grip. I suspect it's the controller setting la, but hell, why can't EA makes it better? Forza, PGR, Dirt, hell, even NFS Prostreet, you hardly need to adjust anything can start your engine already.

I'm thinking of getting the game. I don't have any racing games yet. I never really liked NFS before but seeing this is a proper racing sim I guess I'll get it. I'm hoping for a F1 game but that doesn't seem very possible at the moment.

Race with aaron last night and only win 1 round out of 7 or 8 rounds > < Haha... and yet I just got the game yesterday evening and career mode only played 8 rounds before he invite me XD Nice one, aaron ^^ I think tonight I still can race again

yup ps3 are more economic in long run. can have share dlc. but dont know y..i just cant leave my white biitch. guitar hero 5 rock coz have avatar in the game. party chat n etc maybe.huhu just to my cent.
i have tried using live for 2 days already and the online experience was superb good. last time i received an invitation to a party chat. don't know what it was at the 1st time so i just accept the invitation then don't know what to do there just listen to them in the party
just completed races with full stars on tier 1,2 and 3...now getting used to drifting already, not langgar everywhere and i think the best car to use is for drifting is the nissan 350z with tires stage 1 mods or the mazda rx7 with fully stage 1 mods...damm the streamyx ppl not yet come fix my house...cipet..
