Be wary of the size of this cooler:

Artic Cooling Xtreme Cooler for GTX280 / GTX285
user posted image

I just purchased the entire set of my PC last night.

Thanks to this cooler, I can't use any mid-tower casing except the CM R690 and the Silverstone's Raven.

However, most of the full tower casing will be able to accommodate this cooler thus far I know of.

*I have tried the Silverstone Fortress and this cooler can't even be slot into that casing.

As such, before purchasing this cooler or GPU that comes with it, it is advisable to check the size of your casing.

I might get another Geforce GTX285 when the price drop below RM1k with the same cooler.

However, I should be very careful in determining whether can my casing support it.

I wonder lian-li PC-007 mid tower casing can fit on it  sweat.gif

Rephrased as follows:
I wonder whether the Lian-Li PC-007 midtower casing can fit that in it.

*
Unless the server type motherboard can be fit into that casing, I doubt it can fit.

I bought my Artic Cooling Extreme Cooler from Acecombat @ RM220.

Unfortunately, I have to wait till Wednesday to get to use my entire new CPU as indicated on my signature.

A new cooler from Zalman for Geforce 9800 series.

Zalman VF2000 LED

Unfortunately there isn't one from Zalman for Geforce GTX series.

I don't think we'll ever see Inno3d products in Malaysia.

If Palit adopts that 3rd party cooler, that would be great.

And yes that card will definitely fit into a CM R690 casing and will not fit into most of the other mid-tower casings.

All we can hope for is to see Artic Cooling get some competition in 3rd party cooling for the GTX series card.

I can't imagine going Tri SLI with stock coolers.

I reckon it is too hot with just two of them using stock coolers.

Maybe the GPU makers should stop designing cards that runs 70-80 celsius @ load.

The cooler for ASUS ENGTS250 TOP Dark Knight 512MB looks similar to Zalman offerings with a slightly bigger fan.

for sure it GTX 285 owns single GPU, it will be quite silly if GTX 275 performance is almost the same as GTX 285. if really on par, then the GTX 285 will plunge to zero lol
*
If that's the case, when GTX285 value drop below RM1k. I will buy another card to SLI them together.

Hopefully there will be another Artic Cooling Extreme Cooler for GTX280 around and that would be able to fit my PC.

Finally gotten my Geforce GTX285 modified with Artic Cooling Extreme Cooler.

It stays idle @ 39c to 40c. Can't believe it is actually cooler than my old Geforce 8800GT modified with Zalman VF900 running at full speed all the time.

err..the new artic cooling extreme cooler is longer than reference one??
and tell me your temps @ full load  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
I will post the temp when I have the time to test it with some games.

I doubt it will be high. My guess it would be around 50-55c max. I also am not sure how fast all three fans are spinning idle.

Keep in mind that, the entire comp is very well ventilated as I have 2x 120mm fans intake and 1x 120mm fan for exhausting the hot air.

Also, my CPU itself is also below 40c (about 36-39c) idle.

How noisy are the fans??? Also, cannot use SLI side by side right if u use this cooler??
*
The fans are more silent (altogether) than my Zalman CNPS9500 LED running at full speed or half full speed.

Unfortunately you won't be able to run Tri SLI with this, even dual SLI is a bit difficult if both cards use this cooler because it takes up slightly more than 2 slots. Also, make sure the casing is can accomodate it. I think most full tower casing would be.

Oh yeah, you gotta try Asus Xonar DX2 soundcard. It is a lot better than Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music I used previously. Clearer, crispier and not so boomy.

Then I hav no choice but to WC it lor.... Haihz....

Yeah... I know Xonar is better than X-Fi.... If I have the space, then I will try it... But for now, I think my SupremeFX is doing a great job.....

Is Deepcool blade heatsink better than Thermalright's Extreme 120?

Just asking because I remember that Deepcool Blade is like even heavier than Thermalright's one.

I'll upload the photo of the cooler in the casing later when I am free.

Yeah I guess you better go with watercooling. I probably go for watercooling if I were going for Tri-SLI as well.

I tried running GTA4 with this card (Geforce GTX285 with Artic Accelero Extreme) and I have checked the temperature. Surprisingly the load temperature is about 48c.

That was closed to my old Geforce 8800GT modified with Zalman VF900Cu Fatality edition's idle temperature.

omg.... that's like in orang putih's country temperature... living in winter...

btw, hows the noise level?
*
From my point of view, very silent, barely audible. Quieter than my Zalman CNPS 9500 LED and Zalman VF900Cu @ 50% fan speed.

I think you should get it for your GTX295 they do come out with one....I don't think they have that yet.

Also, any changes of cooler will void warranty immediately these days, Geforce GTX285 warranty stickers are just covering the screws. Hence, the removal of the stock screws will void the warranty.

the cooler even run at 2000RPM is also like nothing, and the temp will not exceed more than 50c for sure, even if u oc the 285 kaw kaw also wont be more than 55c

guys,
what's the minimum requirement for a card to run as physic?
*
Thanks for selling me the cooler.

I certainly believed that it was worth voiding the warranty to have my card running a lot cooler than most stock coolers.

Here is a photo of my casing without the side panel as promised:

Noticed how tightly the GPU fit into the casing.

I am using Cooler Master CM R690.

how much Asus Xonar DX2??
and may i know creative Xi-Fi xtreme price also??
becouse last time i saw ppl selling it at RM690  shocking.gif

why sound card really expensive eh?? hmm.gif

back to the topic..
anyone know how to remove reference cooler from my gtx260+?
i tried to remove all the screw..but cannot take it up lor  rclxub.gif

I bought Asus Xonar DX2 for RM580.
I think the Creative X-Fi Titanium is RM400.

Because they are meant for people with good speakers or headphones, not required if your speakers or headphones are not up to par.

If you are unsure just pay some guy from those shops to do it for you. I got mine done by someone else because I don't have that much time to do it myself plus I am not sure how to do it as well.

Arctic Cooling sent me to do a review one smile.gif

What's wrong if i'm a meimei? wub.gif

Unfortunately, the sound card cannot be allocate any other slot as it is a PCIe version and I think there is only one on my motherboard.

I am still very happy with the cooler, hopefully I can fit another Geforce GTX285 with that cooler in my PC when GTX285 becomes a lot cheaper.

Currently, my new PC is actually quieter than my old PC.

I think I'll get that MSI Geforce GTX285 (Superpipe) once it is out.

Hopefully it cost about the same with those currently in the market. I doubt I can fit another GPU with the Artic Cooling Extreme Cooler.
