Tried using DVI ---adapter --> RGB tested with excelent PQ with no text distorted
Tried using DVI ---adapter--> HDMI tested with test distorted but movies okie
3RCA did not test coz the cable provided in the box is not long enough.

tweek the refresh rate/ resolution settings to lower size looks ugly with big icons/ downloaded latest driver no luck too
How do i connect DVI directly to LCD? coz my LCD only comes with Component input and HDMI....
Advise?  sweat.gif
Yeah, DVI to HDMI adapter (Brand New Cable)

Could it be, what nVidia claimed that HDMI/HDCP supported means it only support in connecting your CPU to LCD just to watch movies only... sweat.gif

I bet some of us here using CPU --> LCD to enjoy to larger viewing satisfaction  nod.gif  but no problems for your text distortion or picture shaded?  hmm.gif
*
hhmm... no DVI input, then i got nothing to say on that.

but one thing weird is that u mentioned
"Tried using DVI ---adapter --> RGB tested with excelent PQ with no text distorted"
RGB is...? can't remember tongue.gif

Nvidia gc cannot support 1080p cos the HDMI is just a conversion of DVI. It just a marketing gimmic. HDMI enable not 1080p enable. Furthemore you cannot boot using HDMI port in GTX295.
*
nvidia gc cannot support 1920X1080? are u sure on that....

Planning to change to Green Camp. Currently using HD4870 512MB and planning to replace it with Palit GTX260 216 Sonic (OCed). So do you guys think it's worth it or not. Or should I just wait for GTX 275 or Gainward GTX285 custom cooled (with 4 heat pipes) 1GB version. I prefer the latter but I don't have any idea about the price and its availability in our country and hence stopped thinking about it for a while.

So Sifus.. really need your help here.
*
my suggestion is...

get GTX 275 instead.

price for GTX 275... should be slightly cheaper. with the 448bit memory interface, the production cost for the memory part is definitely cheaper than the 512bit GTX 285, as less memory chips are used smile.gif so i guess... the difference will be around RM100-RM200 cheaper sweat.gif but for sure GTX 275 will be cheaper, no doubt. but by how much when it comes to msia, i would rather wait and see

hope to get GTX260+ reference at rm650 whistling.gif

it seems like GTX 260+ price drop is the one that ppl are paying attention to, rather than the hype of GTX 275 release tongue.gif

if the card is to compete hd4890, the price seems to be around 1xxx~12xx..
*
i'm also expecting to see the price is be somewhere around there.

I think 1k to 1.1k will be quite reasonable. Based on the specs, I have a feeling that GTX 275 will probably be only 1-2 fps slower than GTX 285

duh, I dont know why you guys keep say nvidia cheats ?
when ? just renaming, nvidia never claim theres an advantage over his own 9800gtx+ , so when you bougt GTS250 instead older 9800gtx+ model. go ahead.
*
true, u do have a point there. but if YOU have bought a 9800GTX+ just a day before GTS250 was launched, u can go on and tell everyone that the fact that both gc are 100% the same. but after some time, deep inside you, u will probably feel guttered. that sense of slight discomfort will probably keep ticking u, that ur card has an older name.

yeah, u probably won't be affected. but some other ppl do. sweat.gif

btw, they were almost going to rename 9800GT to GTS240. but all the business partners were very furious and strongly objected to it rclxms.gif

Haha..you should follow the epic story of HardOCP before gts250 released
*
u mean the one about how nvidia blames hardocp's criticism of the renaming and bad reviews that cause nvidia's stock market to drop?

8800GT can flash to 9800GT and GTS240  ( IF )
dont care about news/story as long as the performance stays.
*
8800GT flash directly to GTS 240. that will be interesting...

but too bad GTS 240 is not going to exist

Be wary of the size of this cooler:

Artic Cooling Xtreme Cooler for GTX280 / GTX285
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I just purchased the entire set of my PC last night.

Thanks to this cooler, I can't use any mid-tower casing except the CM R690 and the Silverstone's Raven.

However, most of the full tower casing will be able to accommodate this cooler thus far I know of.

*I have tried the Silverstone Fortress and this cooler can't even be slot into that casing.

As such, before purchasing this cooler or GPU that comes with it, it is advisable to check the size of your casing.
*
I've always been aware of that tongue.gif initially I was thinking of selling of my GTX 295 and get a GTX 285 with arctic cooling extreme cooler, but then realized that the cooler extends by about 1" at the back of the card. It was then I dropped that idea of selling...

this is currently how the GTX 295 is sitting in my rig

so it's definitely a NO for anything longer than this. no ACXC or 4850X2

I can't imagine going Tri SLI with stock coolers.

I reckon it is too hot with just two of them using stock coolers.

Maybe the GPU makers should stop designing cards that runs 70-80 celsius @ load.

GTX285 sure beat it for sure...Nvidia won't so stupid until make that mistake.....LOL

for sure it GTX 285 owns single GPU, it will be quite silly if GTX 275 performance is almost the same as GTX 285. if really on par, then the GTX 285 sales will plunge to zero lol
