for me, 1920x1080 is not suitable for any screen smaller than 24'. everthing looks so small, plus its sucking up gpu power just to display something that high reso on a small screen.

I need help from u all sifu. Im not really a PC user. but i got a desktop at home. once a while i play games. Today my card dies on me(i think so) is a MSI 8800GTS OC (& i hate this card) given me so much problem.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte S-series P35-DS3R(i know is a old card). now im thinking of changing the graphic card, any good suggestion. Thanks for the help.
*

waa, if ur mobo is old then mine should be ancient then? btw why would ur 8800gts give u prob and what kind of prob? what psu are u using?

QUOTE(min_yp @ Apr 27 2009, 12:05 AM)
any 1 having problem with asus en9800gtx+ ?
my asus en9800gtx+ is giving me a lot of trouble...
blue screen become more and more frequent, even with the newest driver...
any 1 experiencing this problem also? any possible solution? or i have to sent to RMA?? >.<
thanks 1st
*

haha gonna ask u bout ur psu too but seems like nidzamputra already asked it. anyway before this i was using a capalang psu and that gave me alot of bsod when im using only 8600gt. after that changed to st56f and bsod prob was gone. now changed to gtx285 and so far no bsod yet. but felt like upgrading psu again just incase long term its bad for my gpu.. sweat.gif

i remembered some forumer mentioned about his gtx285 having screeching sound and i was skeptical about it! but now i have them!
i just installed stalker clear sky and in the menu screen, fps is showing more than 3k fps! and that's when my gtx285 screech! so is it safe? i remembered someone said its just the ferrite chokes working? btw is it safe? omg my card do screech!

hmmm
did some googling and found out during high fps the card does screech afterall.. gotta read more bout it.

yea. same as me. hawx dx 10, black screen but the game is running cuz can hear the sound and all. any ideas?
*

well, my guess is the starting video. the ubisoft and the intro movie. cuz i had probs like that too when i double click the game and use "alt-tab" the moment the game is opened, i get blank screen too. i could only hear sound and all but "esc" or "enter" couldnt cancel the intro movie so i waited, and then the game menu is loaded and my screen is back. well again that's my case. and my guess is the intro movie thing, it could be other reason as well.

nvidia ambient occlusion
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_ambientocclusion_home.html
hmmm, its noticeable for me in l4d and especially cod4, sometimes the soft shadows tend to make players glow in cod4, which is abit of exploit in the game i think.

so vista now is more better than xp?
Coz i have also heard about the disadvantages of vista. rclxub.gif
*
disadvantages of vista is that during idle it uses alot memory compared to xp, but windows 7 have a fix for that now. anything else vista runs just fine for me.

its best if u uninstall the old drivers first just incase the old drivers will clash or have conflicts with ur new card or ur new driver. you can do like this; uninstall old drivers, remove old card, replace new card, instal new drivers. hope it helps, goodluck!

plus, i think most forumers would recommend driver cleaning tools, well that would be more assured old driver cleaning, well i never used those programs before so you could ask google or hopefully other forumers would tell you more about it.

switched from 8600gt to gtx285 too tongue.gif was looking for your particular 3rd party cooler and seems like there's only one in malaysia. the gpu is blocking and heating up my case airflow. making my northbridge and southbridge and proc temp goes very high, especially during gaming, my whole room is affected and feels like sauna. btw bro kianweic, have you tried out the latest nvidia driver? does the ambient occlusion work for you? it doesnt work for me tho.

guys, no comment on d new driver??
plss....
*
like i said, with the new driver the ambient occlusion doesnt works for me.. plus if i install ntune while using the new driver my comp will bsod. so im switching back to 185 drivers. i still havent google why ambient occlusion doesnt work on the new 186 drivers yet and i will now.
my way of installing new drivers.

uninstall ntune --> uninstall nvidia physx --> uninstall nvidia drivers; restart; go safe mode delete any nvidia and ntune folders; uninstall display driver; restart; cancel when windows is installing display driver; install nvidia drivers --> restart; install nvidia ntune --> restart. and im done.

my method worked so far until the 186 drivers gave me bsod when im going to press "agree" in the "performance" tab after ntune was installed. plus, the ambient occlusion wont work no matter how i tweak it.
