the design is better in a way.. 1.5" bigger.. still within budget..

but glossy screen.. hmm.. and Acer's monitor.. from what i read, acer's like not as good as benq? experienced users please clarify!

Added on May 2, 2009, 2:36 amhaha, nvm. i think i'd get Acer. more pros compared to cons. hehe.. LYP, here i come!

actually i was a lil worried about the glossy screen due to its reflective nature.. i do realise it provides better quality viewing.. but if it becomes too reflective to actually view it, then no use also..

the specs between e2200hd and h233h is really close.. haha.. full HD, hdmi..

and yea, HP is quite expensive.. =/

but anyway.. i think i've made up my mind! going for acer! it's either later or tomorrow sunday! can't wait. drool.gif

i think the HDMI port is crucial.. hmm.gif

yea i know HDMI.. same like DVI.. digital signal.. then the audio..external speaker.. since the built-in sucks.. but for eg. i'm using my laptop as main computer.. it has only VGA and HDMI out, so if i consider 2333sw, then have to get a converter.. and if next time HDMI becomes common already, everything output via HDMI.. less hassle lo..

that's why 2333sw is out of consideration.. (for me at least wink.gif )

Are you sure the price for S2409W will dropped? I plan to get it BTW, maybe H233H. Well, who knows. Also, I had heard many people saying that acer brand doesn't last long. Wonder will it hold true for their latest product, H233H. I'm using Acer 5920G laptop now BTW.  tongue.gif

i'm using the same laptop flex.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Care to take any hi-quality shot of it at different angle? How's your user experience with it so far? Satisfied?
*
i'll do that soon. just got back, kinda tired+busy.. plus i'm not feeling very good now, since i didn't get the monitor with the best deal.. (could have save rm30 or so.. but no stock.. moneyflies.gif) and bought extra HDMI cable (rm39 moneyflies.gif).. didn't realise that this monitor came with one.. vmad.gif

Okay.. sharing my experience now. The monitor itself..

-the design is nice..
-the touch sensitive menu keys.. not very sensitive.
-HDMI works fine
-viewing angle is fine for a TN panel..
-display quite bright, so I had to set it lower..

erm, not sure what else to say here.. since i'm not a LCD freak.. but overall satisfied with the monitor. thumbup.gif
Rm655 (though you can get it at a better deal elsewhere), TN panel, 23" .. well worth it. but if ask me to compare with other LCD.. then I dunno la..

and i guess it's better to just view some of the pics i've taken. lol, sorry some images are blur (not enough light)..

forgot to add.. in that pic, the setting was set to Text preset. which is not as bright as Standard, Graphics or Film.. and Colour temp - warm.

The grey colour, somehow kinda looks weird to me. looks like those old windows 98 GUI.. gives me that feeling.. haha..

Thanks for sharing. From the angle you shot I can see that it has a nice viewing angle. I also notice your plant is struggling to survive inside the room there.  tongue.gif
*
yea, the viewing angle is actually not bad. differs a lot only when viewed from top.. and about the plant.. they're fakes. tongue.gif lazy wanna maintain. hehehe brows.gif

hmm, actually i'm still trying to set it to the right colour temperature/brightness/contrast.. not much settings are there to set.. the presets are not really satisfying (for me).. so I'm kinda not very satisfied at this part. lol...

i've seen/used HP w2408h, and iMac (both are not mine, that's why i had to get this acer.. lol).. iMac - colours just right, perfect for my taste ... but that's IPS panel.. after trying iMac.. w2408h.. not very nice.. presets are not very nice too..

so what i'm trying to say is, maybe my standard too high already.. or i'm expecting too much from a TN panel.. and using it kinda feels similar to using w2408h (of course w2408h is much better, no doubt) but since both are TN panels, and for such prices.. good enough i can say. haha

still a satisfied user here.

btw the lcd comes with hdmi cable only, or dvi also ?
*
hdmi, dvi AND vga. (power cord as well, 3.5mm jack also)

backlight bleed... lol, i totally forgotten about this factor since i didn't notice any at all. just tested with a black screen.. nope.. very nice.. haha.. rclxms.gif

Seriously, is it that bright in the preset mode? Guess 40,000:1 DCR play a part here.
*
it's really bright..

custom setting, i set it to 30/100 (and earlier i tried 0 brightness.. seems just fine) and i feel like this is the max brightness that i would go for.. all the presets are brighter than this custom brightness setting.

at this night time + fluorescent light condition they are quite bright for me la.. perhaps daytime would make a difference..

From a review I saw on YouTube, the backlight is bleeding from the lower part of the screen. You might need to check with it. How about sound output when you connect it via HDMI? Is the audio jack port works well?
*
i retested mine again.. lower part of the screen do appear like got very minor bleed.. but when i try to view it on different angles.. seems like it's not really backlight bleed. so i can't really differentiate whether it's reflection (since it's glossy) or backlight bleed. if it's backlight bleed, then i got to say, it's really, really minor for my case. haha.. like i said, i totally forgotten about such issue.

the audio output.. tested with HDMI.. surprisingly it's louder/better than i've expected (the loudness maybe due to my empty room and alone now anyway).. but the audio port.. weird. not working .. sweat.gif

it works.. plugged to monitor - no sound, unplug, laptop come out sound, plug to speaker, speaker got sound.

not sure got conflict from the monitor detecting sound input or not la.. coz i'm using HDMI..

anyway, currently set to 30% brightness, 50% contrast.. colour temp - cool... still not very satisfying (to me. remember, my requirement is different!). but i think i might stick with this for the moment..

and i got 1 dissatisfaction!!! height is not adjustable T.T
kinda lower than my head/eye level right now. hmmm... but since other equavalent monitors also don't have the height adjustment.. so.. =/

laptop > hdmi > monitor

laptop > set playback through hdmi > monitor got sound

laptop > set playback normal > laptop got sound
laptop > set playback normal > plug to speaker > speaker got sound
laptop > set playback normal > plug to monitor > monitor no sound

my guess, probably because the hdmi is plugged to the monitor, so the monitor only detect sound input from HDMI.. but I don't really know.

lazy wanna find out, because i'm not bothered with the built-in speaker.

Sound output through AV? So I guess I can hook up any 3.5mm jack into the PS3 audio port?

haha.. go sleep then. meanwhile i continue surfing with my new monitor.. brows.gif

about the colours setting.. i guess my expectation is too much for a TN panel monitor.. perhaps the only way to meet my requirement, IPS panel.. lol
for a TN panel monitor, i think this monitor is doing quite well. thumbup.gif

pixel no difference, depending on models. now certain 22/23" monitors got 1920x1080 (16:9) already.

a inch smaller lo.. haha
