Erm is ViewSonic VX2433WM comparable to Dell S2409W? I had been looking for Dell S2409W seller but so far no luck. So I guess my choice is the ViewSonic LCD monitor. Anyone using it with their PS3? How's the graphic?

Currently I have the following brand/model in my thought:
1. Acer H233H 23"
2. ViewSonic VX2433WM 23.6" (built-in SRS WOW speaker)
3. BenQ G2411HD 24"

I might choose between (1) and (3), any comment that can stimulate my mind?

Is the integrated speaker good? I have a 2.1 speaker in my home so I guess I wouldn't mind about the integrated speaker.

P/S: I'll be using it for PS3 purpose, mostly.

go for number 3....
the integrated speaker only good...if u just need some chicky sound
if u want a decent music... forget about it.
i recomment No3.... because it has a good DCR (dynamic contrast ratio of 40000:1)
important for GAMERS...
it can let u to have a better view  esp when in dark scene.

But some people say that (3) does not have 1:1 pixel mapping support and only support 16:10 aspect ratio? Need confirmation on this. Does it suffer from serious backlight bleeding?

(1) did suffer from backlight bleeding but only at the bottom of the screen.

Still couldn't decide.

i tested the H233H at LYP and it is beautiful and glossy...
downside is, gaming doesnt fit glossy monitor...but its up 2 u boss!!
*
Are you sure the panel is glossy? Not matte/non reflective type? I asked a seller for the product before and he told me it's not glossy.

Ya, it seems like Dell S2409W is out of stock. That's why I'm considering some alternatives, which might be better than it?

Is Dell the best among Acer, BenQ and ViewSonic among their 24" LCD monitor?

I don't like glossy screen, especially while gaming. It acts like a mirror. And the touch button, well, might be unresponsive after long term use, maybe. I think I might go for ViewSonic or Dell now, as S2409W has seller.

Anyone know is S2409W support 1:1 pixel mapping? Does H233H support it? How does it compare to Dell S2409W?

that 1 i not sure
but when i bought it the shop told me 3 yrs
mayb some Acer lcd user can clarify this

@D.Sync
i saw got "aspect" setting on the H233H menu but i dun have anything to test it out
or can recommend some program to test it?
*
Does it have something like 'Full Screen', 'Aspect Ratio' and '1:1' option on the OSD, or something similar to it? Actually I'm tempted to buy it but I scare the touch panel will become unresponsive after long time use. In fact, the laptop I'm using now is from Acer and I had replaced the motherboard once. cool2.gif

oso used vk222h previously....
for s2409w it a gud lcd
but it hav small probs like the built in speaker
still for rm700 it GOOD for me....
using 1920x1080 for desktop and gaming
*
Um I don't think S2409W has a built-in speaker? Does it support 1:1 pixel mapping? Wouldn't want the image to stretched when input it with lower res.

better get the Viewsonic 24" if the price is expensive as the feature is about the same and Viewsonic is a reliable brand too

but i dun c this Acer any bad too *touch wood biggrin.gif consider the price, feature and bundle it provided
*
Indeed, it is the only LCD that came with all sort of cable necessary. Did you hook it up with PS3/XBox360?

It does have the port, maybe for output the sound from HDMI to external sound system? I don't recall seeing anything about internal speaker in their manufacture tech spec page.

Um no S2409W user here? I plan to getting one of those compared to H233H. But H233H is really cheap. Wonder will it withstand with time.

There are 2 kinds of model I recalled, one is H233H C (non-glossy) and H233H ..mid (glossy).

i think get acer is better for me cos s2409w have lag issue when gaming with ps3.
the crash sound will lag for about 4 - 5 secs when playing gt5 T.T
*
Haven't the issue being fixed already? BTW the audio lag issue happened even though I connect it with external sound system?

Just when I thought S2409W is the one since it is popular. Seeing this issue I might consider either H233H C or VX2433WM now. doh.gif

Is the lag issue serious? BTW does H233H support 1:1 pixel mapping? This is very crucial for me~

Edit: According to the discussion thread here someone did mention that H233H dose support 1:1 pixel mapping. Still need confirmation though. Been searching for a right monitor for me for days now.

Thanks for the pic. I can tell that your panel is glossy. So far what do you think about the response time, color reproduction and viewing angle (horizontal and vertical)?

Added on May 2, 2009, 2:42 pmBTW for S2409W, since it does not have internal speaker why connect the audio source (PS3) to the monitor instead of your surround sound system? This had keep me wondering for a while.

AFAIK, HDMI cable does carry both the video and sound signal. Say I connect my PS3 with S2409W via HDMI-HDMI cable. How can I 'redirect' or transfer the sound to my external sound system? Any thought?

I just look at the picture comparison between Dell S2409W with other model. Scroll to almost the end of the page and you'll notice the differences of the Pirate of the Caribbean movie. S2409W seems to render the video a bit brighter for me.

Added on May 2, 2009, 3:09 pmIt seems like ViewSonic VX2433WM has issues with the input selector. It doesn't seems to be able to save last selected input source (VGA, DVI-D or HDMI). The only way to reselect the input source is by connecting it with VGA (eg: computer/laptop), then only it can display its OSD which you can use it to select the input source. Guess I'll leave this one out.

Considering H233H and Dell S2409W now. Narrowing down my search.

Are you sure the price for S2409W will dropped? I plan to get it BTW, maybe H233H. Well, who knows. Also, I had heard many people saying that acer brand doesn't last long. Wonder will it hold true for their latest product, H233H. I'm using Acer 5920G laptop now BTW. tongue.gif

Personally I like HDMI as it carries both video and sound signal together. No need much hassle to see mixed wires. I'm moving towards HD world. brows.gif

That's the part where the audio output jack port comes in handy.
