i can see here that lots of young students are eager to get their pr upon graduation.... maybe they like the easy laid back way of life there, but there are always some things to remember:

1) tax rate is super high there - you are likely never to get rich there by working
2) in addition, there are many other types of taxes, CGT, GST, etc that you are paying for....all that goes to the govt.
3) the govt also controls the disbursement of your funds (pension money), unlike here you can retrieve all your EPF $ upon retirement
4) very harsh weather conditions there.....queensland flooding, sun cancer rates very high, some states facing water crisis, thus prices for basic utility like water and electricity are sky high
5) property prices are high...most aussies i see either stay with their parents or are renting.....
6) career wise, you are treated as 2nd class citizen....and hence upward promotion rate may be affected

so what's your objective of moving....for a better lifestyle?

oh yes, private health care also very expensive, you've gotta wait for free government medicare like everybody else.....which is OK, but not OK when you really really sick.

same like the UK, even LKY's wife was flown back to Singapore...would have died waiting.

guys, i am going to gold coast this coming june. what is the best way to go to sydney ah? wanna spend 4 days in gold coast and 3 days in sydney. anyone wanna give me free place to sleep?? wahaha

Fyi, I just called up Malaysia HICOM Canberra today and they said that there will not be anymore application of certificate of good conduct done in person anymore.
